Homing Requirements: Ideally Mia would like to be homed with her partner Chico. The family should be able to provide for 2 dogs financially ref insurance and general welfare. They need a secure garden. Mia will be spayed by Rescue Remedies in March.
Her Story: Mia joined Chico when she was a puppy. Her mother was a South African Ridgeback and her father was crossbreed. Mia and Chico's owners are moving to a flat and cannot find a place which accepts 2 dogs (any dog) and are broken hearted to give up their dogs. Mia and Chico come to us on the 3rd Feb into boarding kennels.
Advert: Mia has grown up with Chico and they have always been harmonious. They are housetrained, know "Sit, lie down, bed, toilet, dinner & naughty! Mia is settled now as a 4 year old dog and a pleasure to own. Generally good with dogs, but likes to run with dogs. She is a little self protective being a unspayed bitch; if she growls, her owner shouts NO. As soon as she knows she's not under any threat she's fine. Chico is happy with dogs generally and loves to play ball; he no longer steals other's footballs! Mia isn't happy in transit, whilst Chico loves the car.
Mia is a large dog now very laid back and easy to manage at home. Chico is older now and just a lovely happy friendly boy who adores children and people in general. Mia and Chico are used to living with very young grandchildren 1-8 years old and would love to live with young children. How wonderful to home a ready made pair of brilliant dogs …the chance is yours!

Chico
See Mia's thread below: Watch her progress through our RescueReferral Details: MIA: A 5 Year old Ridgeback cross, her dad was full Ridgeback, but her mother was a Ridgeback/Staff cross, she has not been done as of yet, Mia is also a very loving friendly dog, she likes lots of attention, and is a very intelligent dog, she picks and chooses dogs she gets on with and can occasionally have a growl, other dogs she will just sniff and they will run about chasing each other with no issues. Mia is also great with children and people. Mia doesn't quite know how to take Cats, she will bark if Chico barks, she will pull sometimes if she sees one, but think she doesn't take as much interest as Chico, think she just follows he lead.
Mia is partnered with Chico a lovely 5 year old Staffie who are losing their home due to eviction notice served. The family have tried for 3 months trying to find them a home together..and were giving up hope. No offers individually either! They will have to come out of their much loved family 3rd of Feb. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
These are better photos of Mia. Have passed on word doc to Clive to fill in. Just to let you know Clive telephoned the vet Nelsons in Thornton Heath which is their vet only to be told that because Mia has just finished her season she cannot be spayed until March. Also they need the jabs redone as they have lapsed due financial trouble and he is getting them innoculated on Wednesday this week.
Cant begin to tell you how relieved I am to know that you will help by taking them in.
Let me know how things progess they have to be out of their house by 03FEB.

Mia has arrived into Gatwick (S) Kenns and is sharing a kennel with her partner Chico. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Mia was very nervous today and at first hid in the back of the kennel when Chinquest and I went in. We fussed over Chico and ignored Mia to start with, giving her the time to make her own decision whether to come and say hello.
Gradually she got braver and I left her to make friends with Chinquest while I took Chico out for a short walk.
When Chico and I got back, Mia greeted us and gradually came over for attention, then back scratches and then for cuddles. She then was happy to have a collar put on.
She is a lovely girl who just needs time and affection to settle.
Mia and I improved our friendship today she really is a lovely girl who's feeling a little insecure in her new surroundings. She was very good through the kennel run she'd have liked to get through a bit faster but Chico held us up he couldn't wait once out of the kennel he just had to cock his leg at once
She's a big girl but I hardly knew she was there on our walk she walks to heel really nicely. Was a little uncertain when the first car passed us but looked back at Chico who was quite happy and she decided all was well.
Zoe has Mia and Liz has Chico - So I shout here, look here, look at me and did all the noises - one looked one way and one looked the other !! So funny. Gorgeous Gorgeous dogs, sure their walkers will be along to tell all...
I do love walking the bigger dogs and Mia is no exception - what a sweet girl she is
Her & Chico are so sweet together and they love each others company - they had a nice walk into the village along with Geoffrey & Tony who also are so lovely together - had a dip and a drink in the stream and then we pottered back to the kennels.
She showed no interest in the people that we met and was just a really good girl
Poor Mia had a difficult weekend in kennels without her special companion Chico. It was felt sensible to put her in a kennel by herself following her visit to the vets on Friday as she had quite a large wound on her side where a "fatty lump" had been, and it was possible that Chico would have wanted to "clean it up".
As it happens, the wound opened up by itself over the weekend: Mia was wearing a "buster collar" so she couldn't have torn the stitches herself. Goodvic took photos of the wound and sent them to the vet who, after consultation with Lynne, decided that she should go back for further attention. She was taken back to the vets yesterday, Monday, and the wound now has about a dozen staples keeping it closed.
Mia will be returned to kennels in a few days time after a short period of recouperation and will surely be welcomed very warmly by Chico.
There are photos of the wound "in the pipeline"....but not for those of a nervous disposition!!
