Homed
Homing Requirements: Rhia needs a family who are comfortable managing a young larger dog. She needs a secure garden and a doggie centred routine. She would love to live with older children but perhaps not too busy a home so she feels sure and settled around visitors. Ideal for a training class - to engage her remarkable intelligence. At a maximum a part-time working home and she could live with another friendly dog. Rhia has 'Lurcher hands’ I.e. can open lever doors so door knobs may be a better option for her family.
Her Story: Rhia was found stray and unclaimed. She has since been neutered and vax'd. She finds kennels a trial despite being a favourite of the walkers. Once her home comes it will all be forgotten. Currently in kennels in Godstone, Surrey.
Advert: Rhia is a medium to large dog who has a young energy but takes direction from her handler. She travels well in the car obviously secured. She walks well on the lead but is happy to meet other dogs. She can do a few growls which aren’t in anyway aggressive just expressing inward concern if she feels unsure but with direction she is soon settled and relaxed within the other dog's company. Rhia would probably live well with another dog but it’s her people that mean everything to her.
Rhia is a larger cross breed who is quite leggy, slender in frame and yet has a gorgeous Staffie heart shaped head with rose ears. She has the warmth in heart of the Staffie and is golden orange brindle which gleams when she is in good health. She mixes with children well and is a little reserved on first meetings which opens up a wonderful opportunity to coax and befriend without a dog being gushing. She is loving & affectionate and absolutely loves her belly being rubbed!

Referral Details: Collecting other dogs from a pound and finding a committment we had made hawas taken up for 2 other dogs I turned to the dog warden and said we could help one other. He was so delighted called his boss and she asked could we take Rhia. Yes indeed!
Rhia came into the front of the dog mobile with me whilst we sped through London towards the kennels I was as usual trying to plan the kennel usage and conscious Hoonercat was taking a dog out and this had an impact which kennel I placed Rhia in. I called him to find he was late arriving home and just walked Tia and it was going to be difficult to go to the kennels. I said I have a few dogs in the dog mobile would you like to choose one! Fate t'was it I was 3 mins away, so diverted and we were parked up with John arriving with a lead! Rhia came into meet Tia and she soon began to relax. We gave her a meal of Chappie and chicken with 4 worming tablets and I left John in possession of a smart girl with a new collar, disc and matching harness. 24 hours and she can come into kennels believing in herself again! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

The lovely Rhia arrived with Lynne yesterday, though at the time she didn't have a name so the kids got to decide. However, using nothing more than my amazing canine telepathy, we soon realized that her name was Tia, thought 'no thanks that's as common as muck ' and so named her Rhia.
Rhia takes a while to trust, but once she does trust you you're her bestest friend. She was concerned when Lynne left, but after a couple of hours and a walk we started to see her come out of her shell and even trying to engage in play with us at the end of her walk. I think she may be younger than she looks as she still has some very puppy-like moments especially around play.
Having found some mud to roll in (she's loves rolling on her back, thinks she's a Staffie ) I was NOT looking forward to having to bath her, but lucky for me she took one look at the water coming out of the taps and jumped straight in . Out came the shower head and she loved it, trying to bite the water as I cleaned her, doesn't get much easier than this. Then when it was finished she jumped out and started to roll around on the bathroom floor rug, almost saved me having to dry her. By now she was in a great mood, and promptly refused my attempts to dry her with the towel, instead electing to charge into the living room and do her wet rolly thing on the sofa
Rhia is quite underweight for her breed, more noticeable toward her rear, her spine, ribs and hips stick out and don't have as much muscle as she should. She was a hungry girl but never tried to take any of Tia's food and let me stroke her and move her food while she was eating. She has got a playful nature with people that she knows, we had a few bouncing around the bed sessions and she found her voice, barking at me before pouncing. She slept all through the night - in fact she didn't really want to get up this morning when the alarm went off and I'm sure would have been happy for an extra hour in bed
This morning we took Rhia off to meet my Mums 2 Staffie boys one at a time in a field to guage how Rhia was with male dogs, as she had been fine with Tia. She was a bit concerned on first meeting but soon settled when walked, shouted at one of them when he got too interested as she was rolling around on her back but otherwise all went fine and she was quite happy walking alongside on the lead. And despite her size she is very easy to walk on the lead, no pulling at all and she regularly looks back to check that you're still there.
Rhia does know how to open doors, even those that open inward, clever girl. Wasn't to impressed with meeting the cats though she did sit when told and was quite easy to get her focus away from the cats, though not so easy to hold it She has had training, knows sit, paw and lie down and will go and lie down when we're eating once told to do so.
Rhia loves being stroked, especially on her side. During the first few hours she would sit with her head furthest from you, but the longer she was here the closer she would get and by last night she was full on head to head cuddles Yes, even when I was in bed
She's a lovely girl who is going to be a big hit with all who meet her as she is very very friendly to everyone she meets.
This is Rhia's 'give me a treat if I look sad enough' look

Beautiful Rhia travelled front seat to the vets today. She was so pleased to be out and about and so many admirers to. She has her second vax and so as we say she is ready to go go go! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

| Rhia is such a lovely girl! She was very happy to see me when I came into her kennel and let me harness her up easily. We quickly set off on our way to meet Judy for our walk up to the cricket pitch. She walked very easily in the company of Judy and was good on the lead. She sits very excitedly for a treat and loves a roll in the grass and a big cuddle! |

Rhia gave me a lovely greeting in her kennel, she gets so excited at having some company that you have to wave the harness at her to remind her it's walkies time
Rhia came out for a group walk today where she walked alongside Tia and Jasper very nicely, though she did want to be at the front so was a bit pully on the lead No pics I'm sorry to say as both my hands were full, but needless to say she's still as beautiful as ever |

Margaret spoilt me and let me walk Rhia today, Rhia was quite bouncy when I entered her kennel but soon allowed me to put the harness and leads on. I instantly felt at ease with Rhia as she hardly pulled and really showed what an absoloute softy she is, she really enjoys having a roll on the floor and having loads of interaction. After the walk around the field I took her into the paddock where we had a game of fetch.
Rhia gave up the toy very well and for the most part was very good in waiting for me to throw the toy for her to retrieve, she did however get very excited on a couple of occasions and had to learn that she had to wait for the game to start rather than try and grab the toy.
I think Rhia has a lot to offer and wants to learn, she would be a brilliant young Dog for someone willing to give her the love and support all dogs need. _________________ Happy for any images I post to be used in the publicising or rehoming or any other reason Rescue Remedies sees fit. |

I was lucky again and got to walk Rhia, she loved the snow and rolled around like a daft pup, very easy to walk on the lead and responds quickyl.
Every big snow drift we found Rhia felt it needed to be explored and dived in head first.
She is such a good dog and will be a great addition to a family.
Come on someone give this lovely girl a home _________________ Happy for any images I post to be used in the publicising or rehoming or any other reason Rescue Remedies sees fit. |

Rhia is such a fantastic dog, she is so friendly and keen to please, during our walk today I watched her as she was very intent on sniffing a particular patch of ground, I looked for the obvious stuff, no food, no fox poo etc and then saw a little mouse which was right by her head, the mouse then backed into a nearby hole and then came out and was right by Rhias head again, I suddenly remembered get the camera so I reached for my Camera and took a few shots, I just missed Rhias face right by the mouse but still managed to get her in the same shot.
This pic just goes to show Rhias real character, she wouldn't hurt a mouse (couldn't resist), she is so lovely and im sure there is a home out there for her.
Rhia blinking.
Rhia blowing a raspberry
Okay look closely at middle bottom of pic there is a little mouse under the bramble
I missed the best shot but got Rhias face in near the mouse, look closely.
Rhia is a dog who is so full of love and fun and shows trust immeadiately, this girl is an absoloute star.

Mat the mouse needs a name but great that it's one that doesn't need a home.
