Posted: Fri Oct 08, 2010 9:33 am Post subject: Mitzy Bull lurcher DOB 12.09 Waterlooville
Homed Homing Requirements: Mitzy needs a stable loving home inclusive and with at least one other dog. She has been around horses and yard cats so this could form part of her home landscape. She needs companionship so an 'at home' situation as she suffers separation anxiety.
Her Story: Mitzy's age and vax history (March 2010) history was revealed through the vet that chipped her. She was found sitting on a strangers doorstep for 3 hours...bless on the 13th Sept 2010 and the family on the chip denied ownership. She ran out of time in the pound. We neutered, she was already vax’d and chipped. Mitzy was fostered with a Terrier & Collie. She was homed soon after in with a very young child and her owner who has a horse. She demonstrated that she needs the company of another dog but proved too interested in a foal in her brief new homing. She has developed chase instinct and now needs a training home.
Advert: Mitzy is 22" to the shoulder and 1 year old. Mitzy is wonderful around children. She is good with most dogs, cats and horses, but not livestock or 'young'. She has a lively tender energy and shies away when told off. She is gentle in her approaches. Meets new people in her kennel but was wary in her brief homing. People love her on first sight and before you know it she is folded in their arms, snuggled into their chest and in a deep loving embrace. She is young, adaptable and eager to learn. She needs clear house rules and loves training. All efforts made to help her will be rewarded 10 fold by Mitzy.
Mitzy is still finding her way, adaptable and wanting to please you. She knows about sit = treats. She walks well on an extender. Recently she became nervous of meeting people. Mitzy would love to live with another dog or 2. Pretty, gentle and sincere in her relationships.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete Our on-line homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found"

Referral Details: Mitzy was picked up as a stray on 13th Sept 2010 after she was found sitting outside a house. It was reported that she had been sitting there for 3 hours before she was eventually taken in by the person whose house she was sitting outside. She is a lovely, sweet natured girl. Mainly black with white toes and a white chest. She is id chipped and the registered owners were notified but they confirmed they had since passed her on. The current owners then got in touch with us and the claiming procedure was explained to them, but unfortunately, we never heard anything from them again. She has been fine with other dogs since we have had her too. According to her previous owners, she was 9 months old when we picked her up. xx Suzanne Dog Warden

The lovely Mitzy was spayed today. I met her afterwards and she gently sat in the car..travelled through to an area near the kennels and enjoyed a lovely walk in the late afternoon sun. The shock was how tall she was about 20-21"" to the shoulder with an angular feel like a pointer..like the other crossbreeds we have rescued from the same area like Jenna and Jenson. Her coat colour is identical to Finlay very slightly darker so the impression is black then in the natural light, dark minx. She met a Springer off lead, who then proceeded to follow her, which she handled very well.

I fell in love..she is a very kind dog. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
I met Mitzy today and whilst she was a bit lively and excited to be out and about , she connects well to people and seems good with other dogs
She is a slim build and puppy like in behaviour. Look forward to getting to know this girl but would prefer it if I didn't get the chance
Mitzy came out of kennels today. We whizzed around the M25 and popped in on Christabel a bit of research into her past and we came out of the vets with a vax card ..fully vax until April 2011; her correct name; date of birth 20th December 2009 and her fosterer Suzanna and Lucy her manchester terrier type wonderful rescue terrier. Lucy put Mitzy in her place, then proceeded to befriend her, on her terms, as they walked across Twickenham Green. Mitzy was also cat tested which she didn't fair too badly on.
So off they went (we met Suzanna in the vets purposefully not by chance!) away over the hills to Reading for lots of cuddles; tender loving care and lots of fun! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

Few pictures I took today!! She only arrived yesterday and is getting used to living in a house again. Perfectly housetrained, immediately found the softest part of the sofa and sleeped tightly thru the night. Initial impressions are that she is rather chilled out, makes a change after a having a full on collie and a terrier with a lightning fast killer instinct for anything furry!!!!
She came with me to see my horsemassage clients in Basingstoke today. Met lots of people, two toddlers, a cat, 2 goats and horses. Horses got a litlle huff and a puff from her, but only momentarily, then she ignored them. Goats she found boring since they would not play with her! Cat food seemed more intresting than the cat
She was also very good in a car (cage in the boot) and slept there whilst I was working for 2-3 hrs. I left her a kong and a bone to keep her entertained.
Looking cute in a pretty coat!
Meeting a cat - she was more interested in the cats food than the cat!
Giving Kisses to Mia
Fresh horse poo in the wheelbarrow looks much more interesting than horses and goats

Mitzy is settling in and I suppose we are getting used to her as much as her getting used to us. Benji our grumpy collie is not quite there yet, but is much better with her. She and Lucy are totally fine together and Mitzy would surely like to live with another balanced dog if given the chance. But as well she would love to be an only dog (more cuddles for her!)
She has a crate next to kitchen and loves going in there for a snooze or to chew a bone. She also sleeps there at night, but only to keep her away from Benjis soft comfy bed. When we had a nap yesterday daytime, she slept in bed with us upstairs. VERY cosy
As you can see from these pictures below, Mitzy comes with two warnings attached to her:
- Laziness warning - she likes sleep far too much and is likely to make you lazy too Im used to a full on mad merle collie and she is making me lazy! Its nicer to watch tv on the sofa with her than take Benji for a run in the rain and dark
- Spoiling warning - she is SO cosy, cuddly and chilled out that you want to spoil her and give her the softest beds and so many cuddles your other half might get a bit jealous
Spoilt and lazy on the sofa watching X factor Vol 1.
Spoilt and lazy on the sofa watchin Xfactor Vol 2.
What a change to have a calm dog in the house!! She loves cuddles and soft beds and just wants to be loved. Maybe a bit of play and chewing of bones included and her life is complete.
