Homing Requirements: Starsky is a brilliant star; a gentle gentleman who just needs a terrier aware person behind him. Prefers to be allowed his own space i.e. not to be crowded out; is in fact a very loving affectionate terrier may shy away from gushing love! He would settle with aware children. Starsky can get excited on seeing dogs but soon settles into a gentle 'meet and greet'. Would suit living with another dog. Currently easily managed on an extender lead which may prove to be ongoing. Comfortable walking with another leaded dog than with an off lead companion as this frustrates him. Needs terrierproof garden and exit security.

His Story: Starsky was found stray in mid winter 09. Since been vax'd. neutered and chipped.

Advert:Starsky is a Border Terrier x just over a year old.  Starsky was named as we had stars in our eyes on meeting! A small, beautifully well-proportioned terrier with a loving nature. He can present as a keen focused terrier then suddenly his eyes meet yours and he is all yours ... 'little licks and dancing for his treats. He needs confidence from a terrier person; allowing him to meet and smell, to work through his initial excitement on meetings.

Starsky is adaptable in his comfort zone, but needs a little space; given this he will share with you willingly. Quick to learn, but his terrier  instincts are there! So you see he is everything  but no we won't home with a dreamer..he needs a family who can take his safety seriously as every terrier needs. We are looking for a 'feet on the floor' home with an active lifestyle to manage and offer Starsky opportunities and develop his confidences further. Starsky is always aware of you and on the whole easy to walk, with Starsky everything is about feeling safe and settled.  Starsky offers so much love, but his safety should always be paramount. Dreamboat!

Please visit Starsky's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in Foster  clicking this link http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra24871.php#24871  to find out more about him and follow his progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire clicking this link https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/r7x3s5/
we need this to be able to respond to any enquiries on Starsky.

Starsky's thread is below: See his progress through our Rescue

Starsky hitched a ride with me yesterday. As I arrived it was snowing heavily so it was relief that he came on to my passenger seat and we got to know each other when we did.

The surprize was his size. Starsky is the same size as Darrien small medium collie size in fact presents as a leggy Border terrier so much the 'terrier' feel. Fabulous grizzled coat. Had some tender moments in the car. Now in our care. I think he may be an escapologist we shall see its a heavy label but I am so hoping I'm wrong...it just such a keen look in his eyes cuts everything else out of his world in that moment..intensity.

Starsky was snipped, chipped and vax'd today. He was very loving and met dogs nicely in the vets.

We tend not to home dogs who cant come off lead into flats as they never have a opportunity to really let their hair down. A lot also depends on lifestyle. A questionnaire opens a situation out to us to be able to suggest a suitable dog.

We took Starsky out in the snow today - we tried to walk him with Marie but he didn't seem all that happy with other dogs around.  Maybe because he hadn't been out for a while he was very hyper.  He seems a very happy little dog but would agree with his advert he is definitely a worker not a a companion lap dog by any means.
Busy all the time sniffing at everything.  Enjoyed a biscuit but doesn't seem to have been taught to sit or take food 'gently'.  However food was a great distraction when he started to bark anxiously at Carl and Marie up ahead.
He was a bit of a struggle to get the harness and lead on in the kennel as he had so much pent up energy so we gave up with trying to get a coat on him and he didn't seem to need it!
All in all a character of a dog - would suit an owner who could work the energy out of him - think he would be quite affectionate when he calms down!

Laughing I was really looking forward to meeting Starsky this morning and he didn't disappoint - he is absolutely gorgeous Laughing  I have a huge soft spot for cross breeds and he is a prime example - a one off and unique. Whoever is lucky enough to share their life with him will have to accept that when out and about, there will be lots of stops while other dog lovers admire him and enquire about him Laughing

He is still very shy at the moment and hasn't quite settled in yet, but I don't think it will take him long to find his feet Wink

Lovely, lovely boy (and between him and Cassie we are going to have the fittest squirrels in England Wink )

I walked on my own with Starsky today, and he was just great!  Very Happy   Not bothered by the squirrels at all, because I was far more interesting.  Well, I did have a pocket full of treats after all.....

He was vocal in the kennels, and on the way out, but once we got past the kitchen he was as good as gold.  Wonderful little chap  love4  (Can you tell I like him very much!!)

Me again - I've just re-read the bit on the first page that says he might be quite affectionate once he calms down.  Well, we stopped and had a bit of a chat with each other today, and I got a lovely snuggle and face wash!!   I think having had a few walks has helped him settle down and now he's showing more of his true character.

Our first meeting with Starsky and next time I will really try and get some photos as he such a character and very photogenic - definitely some border terrier in there?! And he is tiny - much smaller than I anticipated.  Easy to walk, friendly, enthusiastic, loved his treats, very food orientated which will make training easy - just an all round lovely boy Smile

Confused Starsky was very happy to greet me this morning and have some cuddles but really didn't want me to put a lead on. Every time I tried he backed off. It was very strange. Eventually we got ourselves sorted and went out. We started off with Rex, but he was having such a 'whale of a time' we peeled off and went our separate ways.

He is quite vocal when we meet other dogs but it doesn't seem agressive, more nervous. He was extremely good at coming back from the end of the extending lead - he came back every time I asked, and first time too Exclamation That liver cake, hey Rolling Eyes

I met Starsky for the first time and he's got such an appealing face and lovely colouring. He was a bit nervous to start, but it was easier to put his lead on today.

We walked with Jessie in front of us, and he did bark quite a bit, but it didn't seem to me like an aggressive bark and when I stopped walking, he did calm down and stop barking. I think it's just nerves and I'm sure he'll settle down when he gets used to us and to his new surroundings.

It doesn't seem like he's had much training - he did pull on the lead and he doesn't sit yet - but he did listen to me and came to me when I called him. I'm looking forward to walking him again - he's lovely.

Photos to follow.

Starsky is a lovely little fella - he looks like a border terrier x, that lovely rough 'just got out of bed hair' look. He did the excited barking when we set off on our walk, but after a few 'aaah' noises followed by a treat seemed to calm down a bit, he was also walking alongside Jessie, a Staffie bitch without a problem. After a few minutes he fell into a good walking pace and was happy to be out and about. He didn't do the jumping in the air thing that I often think of with excited young terries. Took treats nicely, and seems an all round happy little fellow! He'll be a great friend for someone.

Photos as promised - I'll have to take some more as these still don't do this little chap any justice. He's got such a sweet face but doesn't stay still for very long!
