on another forum i've seen that they have set up a "green metropolis" account to fundraise, green metropolis is a second hand book site - they also sell audio books.
i have some books i'm happy to list, but think it might be useful for RR to have their own account, and for payments received to go directly into the RR account.
could i have some feedback on this and if you're OK with this, the RR account details ?
Cheers
Elaine

If that works out, we have HUNDREDS of books that were given to us, that might be a good way of getting rid!!!

they are fussy about quality, so it won't sort out the very old and tired stuff, but yes, it could work really well

Hi Elaine

That's a great idea and I have had a quick look at it and talked to TinaD about it.  It's a good winter project for TinaD & I to sell some of the better quality books we have left over after the various events and raise some funds when the events are few and far between.

The only problem I can see of opening an RR account and letting people use it to sell books for RR's benefit is that the account is based on feedback - a bit like e-bay.  So if anyone is late posting the book off or overstates the quality then our account would get negative feedback - not something we would be happy about.

TinaD and I will definitely use it for donated books, but I would suggest that if anyone wants to raise funds for us in this way that they open their own account and once the funds are received either Paypal (we get charged a small charge for this) or better still e-mail me for an address to post a cheque to.  Very Happy

hi sharon
thats fine. it would make more sense for you and tina to keep this rolling as you have more books immediately to hand. i have an account already so will list what i have under my own.
it would be worthwile having a fundraising thread which shows in one place what has been achieved and what is ongoing
so for instance a thread related to the easy funraising, showing an updated total  of monies received could be in the same place. as new ideas arrive and slot in we could build up a picture of the range of ways we can help, otherwise they tend to fall to the bottom of the pile and get lost

Yep, you are not wrong Elaine.  Will add the details to "*IMPORTANT* Summer Campaign - "Spread the RR Word" which is a growing list of ways in which people can help us in the "How you can Help" section: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/about1668.html.

Keep the ideas coming and Thank You  Wink
