His Story: Found stray May08. Homed for 1 year with an older lady but he had a tussle with a dog that rushed at him and she couldn't continue. Needs terrier experienced home wonderful example of the breed. Neutered; vax'd and chipped
Homing Questionnaire: All MacTarn needs a 'feet on the ground' terrier home. MacTarn meets dogs well but kept on lead and we just keep walking... as quite novice in his dog skills. Only pet status. Excellent to be left part time hours. Housetrained. Needs harmonious family; Loving but too terrier to live with children. Not for kennels hols: had a lifetime of kennels.
Advert:MacTarn is a classic Patterdale Terrier the real MacCoy! Arrived into rescue in May 08 in poor condition and came to us in May 09 having had an incident with a dog (after a whole year!) He was loved, cared for and proved himself to be a great companion. He can mix with dogs outside if given gentle intros, retained on an extender as deaf in the field! Bright, intelligent, lively Patterdale who to the experienced owner will delight..he is "the business!"
MacTarn simply needs a terrier owner, confidence down the lead. He is very personable character as Patterdales are, which makes them delightful to own. He is a dear and a terrier, through and through. He loves the car. He is young, in good health and awaits his new family, what a treasure...Inquisitive, bright and always smiling! LOVE HIM!
Please visit MacTarn's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in Kennels on our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found"
MacTarn's thread is below: MacTarn came into rescue a year ago with mange, poss. ex worker and was very thin. He was homed and has since been lovingly cared for fully vax'd, neutered & exercised. He is used to being left all day with a lunchtime visit with no problems. Sadly MacTarn grabbed a 'Pom' dog that was off the lead and rushed over to him obviously mistaken for a 'furry friend!' He didn't shake, but as it was the next door neighbours, his owner couldn't face her despite no damage done and has surrendered to Terrierrescue.
He is lovely Super Duper Patti! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
MacTarn is a little shy of the dogs in the kennels as he goes through the corridor. He then embraces his walk and oh yes how lovely..what a wonderful day it is today. MacTarn is so much the Patterdale; a real people dog, very loving and he has a nice even temperament. He meets dogs well. He is a smiler..love his cotton socks! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
I am amazed that our terriers are still sitting there..MacTarn deserves his family. We had a lovely walk yesterday. Forgot the camera..so must go back soon. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
So lovely walking MacTarn. Yes it was hot but we kept in the woods most of the time. His fur is like 'felt' He loves his cuddles and he will always come back and sit or stand close to you. Difficult to take a picture, but oh so lovely a soul to capture in your heart.

Lovely walk with macTarn today stuck mainly in the woods to shelter from the heat. Have replaced a couple of awful pictures which were placed earlier on his thread doing him more justice. Here however is the BESTest. Lovely calm terrier..his home will come soon.

MacTarn has gone into Foster but I suspect if there is anyway his family can keep him by rearranging their lives they will. So have placed him under reserved until we're clearer how things are paning out. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
Thank you!!
Mac has taken to his new surroundings extremely well, he's charged up & down the garden, explored the bedrooms and tried out each bed - think he liked mine the most- and has had a wash and brush-up (which he loved). He is stilll full of energy and seems very cheerful. My kids are absolutely head-over-heels too! Going out for a walk now. Will send a photo via my mobile if we get a good 1 in the next few days.
Love, Alice

MacTarn is doing really well. He had had an episode with 2 separate dogs over the summer so the family have started to adorn a muzzle on his walks. He is doing well as he is almost 100% trustworthy with dog so they are able to allow him contact with dogs and keep his confidence up. Brandy and I went over there 2 weeks ago and Alice found it helpful and wanted to keep trying. I called 2 days ago. The son said they are keeping to walking him on a muzzle and love him very much. They have arrange a dog walker to come in in the middle of the day when they return to school (Alice is a teacher) _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
Mac (Tarn) invited me in today with the air of oh hello come in nice to see you after all this time. He was so happy in himself. So loved by all. His little ways have been discovered; managed and accomodated. He is the perfect weight. His fur is wonderful in such good health. Such a loving boy you can see how much he has worked on each one to win their adoration. No he isn't perfect but perfect in his own ways and becoming more perfect with each day! Wonderful Patterdale specimen.
Signed sealed and licked! Mac Tarn is offically HOME
