Posted: Mon Jan 18, 2010 8:27 pm Post subject: Valli Staffie x DOB 03.09 Epsom Fostered
Her Story: Valli is a young brindle Staffie x just over a year old who was found tied up in an London alley starving. She was in our kennels for a while and then has been living with a mature male Staffie. She however is taking longer to work through her puppy ways in an adults body and needs a family able to allow her to achieve her adult skills with guildance.
Homing Requirements: Valli could be an only dog or live with another dog as long as her dog skills continue to develop. She is eager to relate to dogs and currently trying to interact but some dogs find her 'play' intimidating. Valli needs command deference to her owners which a training course will provide. She is intelligent and young..seeks to please: So leadership for this young puppy in an adults body. 2 months in her home has set her on her path of skill maturation.
Advert: Valli is a young crossbreed who is presenting at a 6-7 month stage of maturation (in a year old body). She is a dear soul with just a lot of catching up to do. We came confused; so thin and so wanting to please, abandoned in the middle of winter. She quickly became a favourite in our rescue and went into foster. Her fosterers have begun her training but she now needs formal training. Watch her trying to fly and oops she bumps into things but she is learning to believe in herself 'look mum I'm flying!' She needs to "attend" a training course. She needs to seek her owners approval and adjust accordingly. At the moment she is free-fall but what a beauty as her grace emerges. Given 6 months she will have integrated her co-ordination; skill acquisition and her emergent instincts will be under her control and her owners. She is doing fine..whilst she learns to shine!
Now in good health; embracing life and slowly is claiming back her puppyhood. She wants to rush; to meet to launch into play so needs firm boundaries. The outside world is still a play ground and as a 6-7 month pup her behaviour would be joyful and accepted... she needs to work through her maturation stages. She is still the needy rescue dog but her tender nature shines through. Her fosterers are trying to avoid her going back into kennels so her new family can build further on the last 2 months input. A foster place may also help. The bud is coloured..and with sun shine..will open in splendent glory. Valli... how green is our Valli
Valli's thread is below: Watch her emerge through our Rescue.
Valli was found tied up in a north London alley 'starved' a Surrey rescue took her in after spay but wants her to go to specialist rescue for staffies. Here is her description. She comes to us tomorrow.

Valli is a beautiful cross breed with an extremely friendly nature. She is underweight at the moment but even when she reaches her full weight, she will always be a slim dog. Valli has met 8 dogs ranging from a tiny Jack Russell x to large lurchers and Rottweiller in foster. She has been good with them all. She also travelled well in the car. Valli has already met a couple of people and her reaction was to cuddle everyone. She took a treat very gently which is quite remarkable, given the fact that she must be so hungry. Valli walked well in traffic. She is a very, very sweet natured dog who just wants someone to love her and she will reward them with total loyalty. She would be a super family pet. Valli has been spayed and vaccinated.

What a sweet heart. Can't believe this dog will be in kennels for long.
She is really friendly and loves people. Valli seemed friendly with other dogs and walked nicely with Lisa.
She walked nicely on her lead, stood nicely whilst waiting to cross the roads but was a little bit nervous of the traffic today.
I don't think Valli is coping well in kennels. Contrary to previous posts today she was very over-excited. Fine out on the walk when calmed down but again not right back in the kennel. This all seemed very out of character for her.

I met Valli for the first time today. She bounces a lot in her kennel and has a very pretty face with a soft and gentle expression. She's a bit on the skinny side and has quite long thin legs.
I did think that she'd be a puller on the lead, but I was quite wrong - she was incredibly easy to walk. She hardly pulled at all and kept coming back to me without being called.
She does jump up quite a bit, but it's not the kind of jump that would knock you off your feet - it's gentle, and it's done to get you to cuddle her. She can't get enough strokes, cuddles and tickles and I got loads of hand washes and face washes
It takes her a while, but she will sit and take treats very gently and lick your hand too, to make sure she hasn't missed any crumbs.
I sat down for a few minutes with Valli, and she put her paws and head on my knee - she's so sweet. So much love to give - she's gorgeous
Valli is a gentle soul easy to walk just gets wound up in kennel life.. so p l e a s e d she is going to enjoy daily walks! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
I was lucky enough to meet Valli today and she is sooo sweet, she looked a little bit like Finlay but a different colour. She came out with Cassie and was very friendly to people and dogs. She did pull quite hard but it's understanable really as she's not had too many walks lately due to her kc. We had some cuddle and treat time back in the kennel, she sat very well on command and was very affectionate. Yet again, a mystery to me how these dogs aren't in a home, she would definatly give you all the love you could ever need. . . . and some!
My first meeting with Valli since her release from incubation and considering she has been unable to get out of kennel for so long she was very well behaved. After her initial excitement at my incompetence securing her harness she soon settled and although strong on the lead she is full of good intentions and is just the sweetest dog with a very loving, sunny nature. Fine with other dogs, she was scared of the horse we met! We stopped for cuddles and she buried her head in my coat.
Back at the kennels she had a run in the paddock, sat for treats and then climbed into my lap for more cuddles. She really is beautiful, very elegant and just all round gorgeous.
Valli was out in the paddock when I arrived today and very excited to see me She just can't get enough fussing.
She pulled a bit on the lead to start with, but quickly settled down to a very manageable pace.
Valli is a very affectionate and happy young dog who just wants to be with you. This means that she does jump up quite a bit to get your attention, but she's very keen to please and should be easy to train.
Valli is a brilliant pick-me -up. Her enthusiasm just makes you want to smile
Miss Valli was my 'Dog of the Day' today - When I let her out of her kennel, she ran gleefully down to the kitchen and then calmed enough to sit nicely by the door while I put her lead on. We went out and then as I fiddled around trying to lock the door, the lead went loose.
You always like to think that it is because the dog is sitting nicely waiting but I knew in my heart of hearts the lead was slack because there was no dog on the end of it Yes, as I looked up Valli was scarpering to the driveway. One glup and then I opened my arms and called her back. Thank Goodness she just loves a fuss and she turned tail and ran straight back into my arms Bless her heart (and her for saving my blushes )
Such a lovely affectionate little girl. A little time, a little training and a lot of love and she will be a cracking family pet for some lucky someone
