Renamed this lovely girl Suzi as you will know once you meet her. Such a special dog..calm and serine on the journey from Wales. She was spayed on the 15th Oct so may be bowled over by what life is throwing at her currently.
Lets see how she settles but on first meeting am in awe!

I met Suzi for the first time today with Janet and Alwyn. In the kennel she was a little growly but the wagging tail gave the game away and once out she was hugely affectionate. As she was preparing to go out for a walk, Alwyn noticed a little blood on her leg. On closer inspection her spay wound was leaking and she had a bump forming behing it.
At this point you realise just how fantastic everyone involved with Rescue Remedies is - a quick check with the kennel manager and Alwyn and Suzi were dispatched to the office so she could be cuddled and kept very quiet, a call to the emergency vets to arrange where to see her. In the middle of all of this a family who had travelled for hours to meet Errol arrived and immediately read the situation and were very understanding, waiting whilst arrangements were put in place. Alwyn was kidnapped by me to cuddle Suzi on the way to the vets and Janet took care of Errol and his adoption ( ) Nobody questioned anything - just got on with it.
Darling little Suzi, so unsure about life at the moment took it all in her stride. She was examined and it was decided we should try and keep an close eye on her first - it could just be fluid forming behing the wound or it could be more serious. It is impossible to tell at this stage. So, in order to keep her as quiet as possible and under constant supervision, she has come home with me for the time being and is being kept crated with a lampshade on.
She has eaten well tonight and been to the loo. She will sleep in our room tonight and fingers crossed all is well in the morning. Sweet, sweet girl |

We all got some sleep last night, there was a little fretting but generally she settled.
She has eaten breakfast this morning and been out for a couple of walks in the garden.
So far, I am pretty confident that she is housetrained. When she wants to go, her fretting gets more frantic.
Scooby is a little scared of her (or more precisely, her lampshade ) but they have investigated each other and there were no problems. She is a little nervous generally but has accepted him. She seems to love the children
At the moment she is very anxious and timid - every time anybody comes into or out of the room, she frets. Hardly surprising, though, given what the poor little mite has been through She will stay in the crate today to keep her a still as possible and then we have an appointment to see the vet again tomorrow morning.
Despite all her confusion and discomfort, she has the most loving and gentle nature. Once we get her through this, some family are going to think Christmas has come early |

We have been taking Suzi out for a little wander at hourly intervals or as she required. A few more pictures of her from today starting with my favorite -
This comes closest to capturing her
She seems fine with dogs, although Scooby is not sure about the lampshade -
She seems to adore the children and loves any attention they give her -
She is fascinated by the molehills - we decided it was best to remove her collar quite quickly as she used it as a shovel this morning
Poor little mite, the pocket of fluid is clear to see in the photo above She is going back to the vets in the morning - keep your fingers crossed for her. She is such a dear little thing, so loving and so confused at the moment |

Well done you all. Keeping everything crossed for little Suzi for tomorrow.
I am sure she will be fighting fit very soon. Love and care with just a touch of magic because so many people are willing her on. |

Everything is crossed for her Karen. I thought about her last night but I also thought that little JRTish girlie couldn't be in a better place.
BTW she looks gorgeous even with the lampshade. Lovely, lovely photos of her! _________________ "Plus je vois les hommes, plus j'admire les chiens."

A quick up date on poor little Suzi - she was operated on again this morning and is on strict rest and antibiotics for the next 10 days.
She is still groggy and confused at the moment but at least she should now be on the road to recovery.
She is back home with me and tucked up in her crate. |

Let's hope it's all looking better for her from now on.
