His Story: Stanley was treasured by an older couple but didn’t understand his terrier ways. He spent over 6 months in kennels, homed for 2 months returned we now understand Stanley's needs.

Salient points: Very loving terrier who will offer his belly at the slightest excuse. Needs balance association with both adults from day one as can focus too closely on one; or perfect for a single person's home. Needs terrier experienced home who can reassure and stretch Stanley beyond his 'comfort zone'. Protests on being left for 10 mins then settles.

Advert:  Stanley is a handsome 4 year old Lakeland terrier with beautiful looks and a loving nature.  He loves to sit on your lap or watch you going about your daily tasks. He can become dependent on your presence but after 10 minute protest, is happy to sleep on the sofa waiting your return. Stanley mixes well with dogs once he relaxes, but might have to test them out initially due to his nerves; typical terrier! Everything for Stanley rests around his focused comfort zone. He needs a home where there is the balance of his role as ‘companion pet' i.e. access to sofa, sleeps near bedroom (not kitchen) and living an ordinary relaxed doggie life. If living with more than one adult he needs a constructive programme geared to multiple bonding. Stanley could live with another dog companion but will need to work through his 'only dog' conditioning.  We now know what we are looking for for Stanley. He walks beautifully on the lead until he sees a dog or squirrel then he sparkles, but soon relaxes with confident management.  Stanley has a tight non-moult coat which needs attention every 4-6 months.  Stanley is neutered, chipped and vax'd.

Stanley mixes well with respectful visiting children and visitors in general, excited initially but soon settles. Would benefit from a home that understands his terrier nature and makes allowances so he can enjoy his nature also! Stanley is a super terrier, such a tender soul.

Please visit Stanley's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on our forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire  so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".
