Homed

Homing Requirements: Sidney is by nature a nervous lad who needs lots of reassurance around him coming from terrier experience. Has lived with children and was used to being left.

His Story: Bought as an 7 week pup (bet he was younger!) through the free ads. A very nervous little pup handed over in a car park. Lived with single mother with 2 children 4 and 5 years old. Gifted to Rescue Centre in as returning to work full time & moving to new home no dogs allowed. Now 15 months old and just neutered.

Advert: Sidney grew up in a young family which he learned to trust. He would show his nerves with growling at visitors even if he had met them before...once they stroked him he settled. He is fine in the vets and travels well in the car. In the kennel you are fine to take toys and food away but runs away with bones! Sidney could be handled by his family and enjoyed his bath. Hasn't liked to be handled via his collar in the kennels so toy and slip lead employed and he settles.  Can air snap outside on feeling threatened by strangers (all ages) or fast moving things. Excited with other dogs and has never been let off lead. Did snap when younger as defensive mechanism or in new settings but does settle and accepting in familar. Housetrained. Knows commands – sit, down & stay.

Dear Sidney so didn't need to come into kennels, exactly what he wasn't going to manage very well. He was still learning to settle outside the house and one can only think his initial 7 weeks of life were not good. He needs a terrier family who have patience and faith in him they can calm him and imbue confidence. Sidney is nervous and does need a caring reassuring family who have faith in him and can bring him through into the delightful terrier he truly is. This is why the Rescue Centre wants us terrierrescue to take him under our wing, as we have terrier homes who will not place too much pressure on little Sidney. Youth on his side so will blossom in the right hands

Please visit Sidney Jack Russell Terrier DOB 02.10 Erith Kent on Our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete Our on-line homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Referral Details: Rescue's assessment. Sidney is an active & frustrated little man who can be worried by certain situations i.e. loud traffic.  Fiesty little terrier not really interested in toys apart from soft fluffies.  A real foodie, mild possession in kennel setting but children never had a problem with this. Happy to exchange & work for food.  Uncomfortable with handling particularly collar restraint where he tries to grab hands to get away.  Friendly & playful with dogs can be bit pushy when meeting but will walk away if told off.  No issues with strangers seen on assessment.  Managed in kennel area with a program to use food or favourite toy when putting back in kennels – no issues since.

Sidney was neutered this week in preparation for us taking him as soon as possible. All dependent on what homes come up, but would love to get him this week or even better have a foster offer!
