Homed Homing Requirements: Sammy could live as a second dog or as an only dog. Main criteria is that the family attends training classes to support her skill acquisition. Sammy needs experience behind her to help her settle on walks and meet and greet. She has always been on lead outside. Could live with dog savvy children if terrier experienced i.e forgiving of her terrier traits.
Her Story: Sammy was homed as a pup in with another dog (unknown breed) and 2 children under 4 years old. Sammy arrived in another rescue without the owners even knowing her breed. Her owners were being evicted so had to give up their dogs. Sammy is fully vac'd, spayed and chipped. Now in boarding kennels in Gatwick.
Advert: Sammy has done very well, despite growing up within a young family who managed her, without understanding and guiding her terrier temperament. The bathroom was used when they were out and to stop her nervous barking when visitors came, which apparently worked! She is not fully housetrained. She was apparently walked but isn't settled outside. She barks when she meets new people as she is scared, but soon settles and accepts, displaying attempts to befriend, like pushing her cheek on to your hand. Sammy's energy can get whipped up and the worst she has done is catch at a stranger's trousers. She was fine with 'her children'. Her play with the other dog was lively and intense apparently. Sammy soon befriends dogs also.
Sammy is an attractive Patterdale, wire-haired black with a white flash on her chest. She needs a family around her, loving her Pattie gifts. She is still very young and her loving nature drives her forwards to overcome her nerves. She will settle and learn to get a handle on her terrier energy and instincts as she matures. Needs friendships and an understanding family to love her through her mishaps and help her to 'grow into her skin'. This is Sammy in her hour of need.'

Sammy's Thread is below: Watch her progress through our Rescue Referral Details: We have been asked to take on Sammy from another Rescue as a lively Patterdale stressed in kennels and needing basic fundemental supports in her foundation year.
Sammy came into our care today after I had met her twice and gauged her as a wonderful terrier in the making! Sammy is a whizz kid! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Sammy is the same age and looks just like Lucky (my friend's rescue dog). Gorgeous girl! Fingers crossed I meet her for a cuddle soon _________________ KERSTIN xxx
Moved Sammy to Gatwick North today (Tuesday). Ahhh! She's so tiny! Was expecting a dog the size of her reputation... instead I found a little sweetheart. She made her shy terrier introduction - front paws on my knee, gentle head push into my hands - and I was hooked.
Ignored Milo in the car - noisy boy - and was more or less quiet the whole journey. Had avoided trying to put a harness on but when we got to GN I put a spare RR disc on her collar. No sign of trouble, quite the reverse. Then Morris came back from taking Milo to his kennel, went to take Sammy and was greeted by a whirling, snarling fury. Sammy immediately stopped and was all sweetness to me - embarrasing or what? - and I took her to her kennel. Clearly frightened by the whole thing but still very sweet and clinging in her kennel. Felt very bad about leaving her.

Good luck with your home check, she looks like a little heart breaker _________________ 100% Terrier, these little pocket rockets are fun, independent, high energy bundles of love, not for the faint hearted. They need commitment, what you get back is is love and loyalty now how bad is that....
Sammy is in with Zoe, mum and their pack. She needs to learn to settle and respect the cats which Zoe will be working on over the next few days but oh how she loves the company of other terriers. So lovely to see her building confidence and skills and having a great deal of fun in the process. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
We took all 5 dogs out for a walk and then I gave sammy a bath! she wasn't keen but smells nice and fresh now. We had a damp and hairy roll around on the bed, discovered she likes to leap on my head!
She ate her dinner and slept perfectly all night in a crate.
She isn't keen on cats and my youngest dog was a bit full on wanting to play, which went a bit too far so trying to keep them apart and will reintroduce gradually.
Understandably she is insecure and desparate for attention poor thing, she loved laying on my leg watching telly, then the spare sofa then the furry mat....
Glad we have a muzzle for when she's mixing with the youngest cat and dog just in case while she settles.
Sammy has really settled down and loves her cuddles and fuss, she jumps up a lot but just needs training with a no or down.
She has springs for legs! she can jump in window ledges and the sideboard from the floor but does not do this much.
She is geting so brilliantly with my 4, sammy and the youngest 2 spend ages running around the garden in circles and even the older 2 have joined in play fights.
She sleeps soundly every night and rarely barks, loves her grub, unsure about treats, bonio's etc but loves pedigree chum markies and butchers chicken cubes.
She is ok with the older cat most of the time but we have managed to keep them separate from her as just the sight of them can drive her wild.
A lovely girl that may have a home soon - fingers crossed x
