Red Fell Terrier born Dec 2004 and has been with her owner since she was 15 weeks old. She is a scamp…adores being off lead and running chase to the exasperation of her owner but comes back. She cant be off lead in parks as she jumps up excitedly at people. She need firm boundaries and will take advantage where she can. She knows to fall into submissive mode when she has done wrong. Frightened on public transport: goes to war with the post. Sleeps on owns bed Tender and loving..a great jogging companion. She needs a secure garden else goes chasing cats and squirrels. Oh Ruby so knows how to enjoy herself. Losing home as too high energy for 2 small dogs; 2 small children; a cat and furries in a flat so being left 10-12 hours during owners shifts; Neutered; fully vax and chipped. Coming Gatwick kens 12th Feb

Ruby's owner took her to meet Sue who lives on a barge today. She was entralled (yes everyone). She has been left insitu with the view she will be taught to respect river life to the best of everyone abilities. Watch this spot but yes Ruby is now reserved!

Ruby has come to live with me on my barge ,my name is Sue and she is settling in very well. She says she is very happy to learn how to be a barge dog and has been for some good runs along the riverbank.

She has met the neighbours and several of the regular dogs who walk by but was a bit overwhelmed by 4 very bouncy labradors but coped well. She seems bemused by the seagulls.

She hasn,t left my side since she came and seems to have adopted me as her new Mum.As soon as I can work out how to get the photo,s out of the camera onto the computer I will post some.

I think Ruby will be very happy here, thank you rescue remedies.

Hi there,

I was, until recently, Ruby's owner and I was very pleased to be handing Ruby over to Sue at her house boat.

Before  I was put in touch with Sue, my partner and I were very worried about what to do about Ruby.  She was far too special to go to just any home so we couldn't simply offer her for sale or give her to just anybody and we did have offers even before we decided we had to let her go.

A couple of things about Ruby:  She was born in either late November or early December 2007, not 2004 so she is a little over 3.  The other thing is that if I hadn't have met Sue at her boat, I would still have Ruby because my partner and I didn't want her to go into kennels after all.

I'm enormously grateful to rescue remedies for facilitating my meeting with Sue as most of the blurb above is correct.  She could turn my partner's place upside down in moments because of the other little creatures but she had to spend long times alone at my place which wasn't fair.

With Sue, Ruby has a wonderful environment and an owner who can give Ruby both the time and the space she needs.  A perfect Rescue Remedy (ouch!).

Yesterday Ruby came to work with me for the first time and she was very well behaved. She thoroughly explored the workshop and found all the tennis balls that my Rosie had hidden. Then she investigated all the corners looking for a mouse !

As it is very cold in my workshop I made her a nice warm coat and lined a cardboard box with fur fabric for a bed.

I don,t think she is used to being awake all day and was very tired by the end of the day and fell fast asleep as soon as she got in the car to go home.

Today when we got to work she went straight to her box and went to sleep, Ruby learns fast!!

Before we go to work I don,t have time to walk her so I just stand on my jetty and throw her ball along the riverbank, Ruby races after it and loves it.   Very Happy

Ruby is a truly lovely dog. She has settled in very well and is very happy living on my barge, although she doesn,t like getting up for work in the mornings !, she would much rather stay in bed !

I took her to the beach at the weekend and she had great fun running after her ball but seemed somewhat surprised by the sand and didn,t like it when it went up her nose and in her eyes.

She has been swimming once when her ball went into the river by mistake and also she fell in the mud and had to be bathed which she wasn,t keen on. Poor Ruby.

Yup, Ruby didn't like baths but she did love to swim.  Whenever she got muddy I simply threw her ball into a pond or river and in she would go.  The only thing she didn't like about ponds or rivers was a sheer drop which is why I knew she wouldn't go from Sue's boat into the water.  The banks around the boat too are sheer into the water.  She likes slopes.

Some pictures would be nice.

Cheers
