28th May
A busy and stressful day.
Yesterday had a conversation about Velcro a Patti who can't be kept and put to sleep (PTS) suggestion was being used.  Had to be there for her..details came through today and family can keep a little while longer but she is just due to come into season   Today 3 calls of a similar nature 1 Fell terrier 5 yr male squabbling with collie just coming of age Patti has to go  think they may contact tomorrow as emergency offered them lifeline..do not PTS!; 2 Patterdale bitch lepted up and bit an gardener in the property nextdoor but no boundary wall so 'her' territory PTS seriously considered said we'd stand there for her; 3 male patterdale ran off when let out of kennels and nipped a man in the adjorning golfcourse PTS being put forwards as viable way to proceed.
Supporting Tia's Staffie trial day

Good news on Sammy (Sunday meeting) and Jimmy (Friday homing).

30 May
Can't remember yesterday  but lots happened today
Took Mitchell to a family in Clapham..and left him there..thought I was taking him along to talk about 'easier' dogs. They weren't having any of it nor was Mitchell...fingers crossed
Jimmy homed today
Firm enquiry in on RonniePip Squeak is coming back in near future
Could not find Scooby..when sorting the dogs out for bed..tried to call missing dogs no. answer ..feeling sick but also feeling its so unlike him to escape.   Standing in the back garden in the dead of night I heard a fox cry in the distance then a jiggle..got a chair next to my neighbours hedge and strained to look over called his name  called again  a jiggle then suddenly his smiling face as he lept up on to the hedge for me to pull him over! Ask no questions but boy did he get a welcome home!!

31 May
Scooby escaped out garden again..taking a running leap at hedged side..managed to get him back from nextdoor-but-one neighbour who used the opportunity to give Lorenzo an ear full of how we have made her life hell with dog barking in the garden..Lorenzo spent day raising fence to 8 '! At bed time we still had Scooby.
Sadie found her new family.
Day blighted with going to collect Mitchell and taking him to be Put to Sleep.  It so nearly didn't happen loved him so much. Reasoning was He was an indiscriminate biter who usually gave warnings and when in his stressed moods the whole pack were running scarred. But on homing into a VERY worthy family he hadn't just biten but held on and would not let go of the man's hand. Yes he must have been scarred but he had crossed the line where knowing he would bite 'whoever', was aware he could do such a thing presented ourselves with a possible scenario which  he wasn't in control of and would always present a risk in our psyche in our home. We are just about to have building work going on for the rest of the year..and this would be doubly stressful for Mitchell. The  potential owners placed no blame; and begged me not to put him to sleep...but you have to be responsible and each has their own lines...we have only had to put 3 dogs to sleep for behavioural reasons in 5 yrs and each were indiscriminate biters who had absolutely no control in the moment as to where or who and what they attacked. If anyone wishes to challenge I am happy for a dog chat thread to be started.
