Homed Referral Details: Reggie is part of a breeders pack. The breeders are now going to concentrate on the breed they show, English Bull terriers. So we are helping by taking on 12 terriers and prepping them for their forever homes.
Reggie retired today as a stud dog but trying telling Reggie that! Well Smidge is actually! and he is beginning to get the message. Tomorrow it all happens..and he should be relieved to be able to come into life for the next 7 years. Foster offer came into today for Reggie so he is joining Rosie a cherished Welsh Terrier tomorrow after his vet appointment. He is staying with us overnight then off to beautiful days.
Reggie has the snip today which was his certificate to a retired and very happy life. His ears are also being treated, 1st vax and microchip. As if that wasn't enough for one day I was hired to chaffeur him to his Rosie abode. Teri and Tony made him feel at home and yes he was leaving his mark but in hearts mostly. Teri and Tony would like first option to adopt if Rosie and Reggie settle down together so with very great pleasure Reggie is reserved. Wouldn't it be nice! with the best will in the world we watch in hope and joy. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

What a sweetie Reggie is! He is such a fab boy and learning fast.
It has only been a week since Reggie came to stay with us and already the progress is noticeable. Training is coming along well, he is walking well on the lead with no pulling, although we still need a bit more practice at walking to heel - but that will only come with time. He has however learnt when walk times are and one very noticeable improvement is that he has taken to toileting on walks already. Manners at human mealtimes are also improving and he is learning that jumping at the table gets him no treats - sitting quietly might
The TV has been a new experience for Reggie and to be honest he is fascinated! Although he made me jump when he saw a horse on TV and barked - he never barks and the deep bark that came out of him made me think that another dog had somehow got into the house!
The only downside, for us that is, is that Reggie appears to be a little nervous of other dogs and as a result will not integrate with Rosie. She has tried to make him play but he just runs away, being more than happy just to curl up on a cushion and watch x factor! We are hoping that things will change as his confidence grows as it would just break our hearts if he really will not take to her. He is so full of love and at the moment appears to just want a human companion to cuddle.
When Reggie met Tilly...Stephen flew down from Lincolnshire ahead of time to save Reggie going into kennels. Reggie met Tilly (and also Razzma & Tazz's Tillie) on arrival at Luton. Reggie was a little nervous but accepting. Stephen has already emailed to say he is settling well in with Tillie and they are so happy to offer him the time he needs to adjust to life beyond a kennel and to build further on the work Tony and Teri with dear Rosie so kindly started. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Hello Lynne, just a quick line about little reggie. He has the appetite of a horse. His house training continues. He didn't bat a eyelid when we took him to he seaside, which we were surprised at. He and Tilly had their first serious dog sorting out session on the beach, and is now under no illusion of his standing in the scheme of things! Work on training with treats as incentive are positively galloping along. Have just got back from his first night time/dark walk, which Tilly loves, with mixed results for the poor chappie, but i also saw the first bit of terrier come out of him too. All in all for his first day, what can i say? I would just love to read his blog!!! He is curled up now between janet and i. So small. Good night all. Janet and Stephen. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Poor old chap - I hope he can stay in foster until an understanding home comes along. Bit like people a lot of senior dogs develop hearing problems. _________________ "Always remember your terriers - Protect them from wet and from cold - For the love of a tyke for its master - Can never be measured in gold" DP Todd "The Terrier Anthem"
Sadly by Alyson's Dee means he is going into our Gatwick North kennels, not foster
Lets hope someone does come forward to foster him. Although he will be looked after very well at Gatwick North, this little lamb needs to be in a home and not kennels.
That has made me quite sad really Poor, poor boy having a taste of the good life and then being sent back. Lets hope somebody comes along quickly, he reminds me so much of Marlow.
Vicky took Reggie out today for the first time and joined Alfie on our walk. We have no experience of walking with a dog that is deaf, but we let him follow me and Alfie so that he could see what was going on at all times.
I have to admit that Reggie did look a little sad to be in kennels, and he seemed a little nervous and shy. Maybe he's just getting used to his new surroundings. Once out on the walk though he trotted along beautifully. He really is a tiny little chap too.
When we got back to the kennels I went to take Alfie in and Vicky sat in our car to give Reggie a nice long cuddle. She said that once she'd sat down with him on her lap he didn't move, and just loved being cuddled. Vicky even carried him back to the kennels to keep him nice and warm.....much to the worry of Tina who thought he had injured himself! Vicky just explained that she liked cuddling him so much she didn't want to put him down!
