Homed

Homing Requirements: Poppy needs a home that 'gets' terriers. She can be reactive to dogs but given reassurance and time she settles. She needs a situation that gives her confidence in herself and not expecting it all to come from Poppy. She will settle easily as an only dog or may even meld in with another placid dog where she can build trust and feel safe. Secure garden and terrier aware visitors i.e. exit management with no front doors left casually open!

Her Story: Poppy was bouncing around through families. Her most recent acquirer didn't get terriers and took her to a pet shop and walked out disappearing. Poppy was introduced to a large 'pack' house of 10 dogs, was petrified and ended up in kennels where we agreed to be there for her. Poppy is now spayed, chipped, wormed and going through vax. process

Advert: Poppy suits her well she is fragile; beautiful and the easiest dog to pick (up). She trust humans and is affectionate. She needs a calm routine to unpack her little suitcase into and call her own. She so needs stability and understanding. We have been delighted with her and she has begun to understand dogs don't eat her and settle with them on her walks.

Poppy is a flower; a tiny Jack Russell who so needs Tender Loving Care and a 'dogs life' in the very best sense of those words. She is appealing and quite calm in the kennel - sitting neatly in her bed and trotting up to the door in hope you will come in for a cuppa or even better take her out for a stroll. Petal will delight any Jack fan ... will truly enamour them!

Please visit Poppy Tiny JRT DOB 01.10 Kingston Foster on the forum to find out more about her and follow her progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Poppy's thread is below: Watch her progress through our Rescue
Referral Details: Being handed through homes. Latest owner took her to a pet shop having had her a few days. The pet shop owner said she didn't know of any homes and suddenly looked around to find owner gone and Poppy tied up in the shop. Taken in by a local person who had 'many dogs' Poppy was petrified and freaked out. Dog warden did her a favour taking her in for assessment as an abandoned dog.

We agreed to offer Poppy a rescue place. Booking her in for Spay.

I may have just melted, she is stunning.  Trying to persuade my other half into fostering atm - too much to hope that she is okay with kids & other dogs?!

Walked Poppy tody. She was a little nervous of me first but was soon my friend. She is generally quite nervous of everything so carried her out and back  through the kennel run. She had a bark at Brandy as she came out to walk with us and was nervous for a while but then settled and relaxed and got on with her walk. She likes a cuddle but is not very tuned into your voice. Pulls a little on the lead but she is so small you hardly notice. Poppy need lots of confidence building as she is a super little dog.

She is very beautiful in the fur too. She is much smaller and delicately framed than I'd expected too.

Hope to get a walk Friday if she hasn't been scooped up by a foster or forever family by then. It wouldn't surprise me if she was homed quickly, she's a very cute tiny little thing.

Met Poppy today. Just a brief encounter as she is full of a cold and we couldn't risk her infecting the paddock. Means we cant spay or vax her yet. She is very light and very small. Had no problem what so ever with me, a stranger, picking her up and 'crushing her ribs'..or giving her a cuddle as it's sometimes called. Looking forwards to a walk -she so needs the stimulation and company.

So saw Poppy on Saturday morning - she is sweet and was very full of beans. I went in her kennel to say hello and she instantly started fluffing herself up ready for a walk. I only had 20 minutes left so quick on with the tiniest harness ever seen and out the door. She was very happy trotting alongside me and up for jumping over the puddles. Once at the stile she just looked at me as if to say - you have to pick me up for that one! So all in all she had a lovely time seems okay - think I fuss a little bit too much - and I tucked her back up in her kennel. I have to add she managed two large sausages - and very quickly at that - so a big dog at heart. Come on someone snap up little Poppy - a cutie.

I took Poppy out for a walk yesterday, she is very tiny but has the biggest personality  Laugh  Being so small she is very easy to walk and she just trotted along beside me, tail contentedly wagging. She is such a chirpy little dog you can't help but smile and so very cute, one of the cutest dogs I've ever met! Poppy does bark at other dogs and I think this is just through fear and she needs someone to help her socialize. I found that just talking to her and saying 'no' really helped and responded to me even in such a short space of time. Please consider this little cutie, I don't think kennel life is suiting her. She is so small I'm sure she could fit in anywhere  Smile

I have made it a point to walk v every time I have been to the kennel.  I own 4 JR's so obviously, me and Poppy are getting along very well.  She does pull but she is just showing her terrier side, lots and see and do and doesn't want to miss anything on the way!!!  She is very petite and has a wire / soft coat with lovely markings.  She does get excited walking in the kennels past the bigger dogs but that is just because she is nervous and gives as good as she gets as a JR does!!!  Very lively and wants to be on the go all the time, again a typical JR.  Hope she finds a home that has lots of walkies and doggie time for her

Poppyl popped in the car this afternoon and had her first vax and check over. We felt she was too thin so have wormed her and are focussed on build up.

Took Poppy out again today - how could i not!!! She was very calm for a change and responded well to attention and hugs and she just needs more exercise overall.  Very curious as a JR should be and full of energy but in a good terrier way!!  Lovely little girl who deserves to be in a warm place with lots of care and treats
