Homed
Homing Requirements: Full sized Greyhound. Will suit family life as proved in foster. Good with dogs and people, but not for cats or small furries. Retained on an extender. Looking ideally with live with a bitch dog.
His Story: Musky is an ex-racer with 41 races under his belt. He gained his retirement in Oct 2009 through a cruelty case being filed against the racetrack owner because of the conditions he and his friends were kept in.
Advert: Musky is a splendid "grey", born 11th Feb 2005. Autumn Governor is his race name which holds great significance for him. In his 1st autumn he began his training and in his 2nd autumn he came first! Another busy year and he gained retirement by his 3rd autumn and was in his 4th autumn he has gained his release .. we are hoping he will gain his family by his fifth birthday then lets look at how life serves him by his 5th Autumn in his Governor's home!
Musky has been neutered and vax'd. He enjoyed foster and adapted so well to living with 2 'greys' and a small dog. He lives well with other dogs and is finding a whole new side to life. We are looking for a family home for him so he can become accustomed to civilian life in full glory. At last this is what I was born to ... life suddenly filled with colour!
Please visit Musky's dog's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in Foster on our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.
Musky's thread below:
Quote:
White and black male, 4yrs old. Spent some time in a foster home, clean in the house, good with both male and female greys and small dog. Gentle giant, loves people, friendly and affectionate. Castrated, full vacc. microchipped because of foster home. Foster home says Musky will be better in a home with another dog pref. bitch of any breed or calm male.

The background to Swansea race track closure releasing Musky from all obligation!

"Animal aide.org" Swansea dog track closes
Posted 13 November 2009
Swansea dog track in South Wales has closed less than two weeks after the owner was fined under the Animal Welfare Act for keeping greyhounds in poor conditions. Inspectors found dogs kept on soiled bedding, kennels smelling of urine, and one dog with an open wound on his tail that had been left untreated.
The closure of the track is an important victory for the campaign against dog racing, but has left many greyhounds in need of homes after being discarded by owners who only wanted them for use in racing.

Musky came home with me today to join my sighthound pack - 2 greyhounds and a lurcher. First introductions went well and I walked the 2 boys together. Understandably he is a bit unsure at the moment.

Musky is settling in nicely here
Hope to get some pictures once he is more relaxed - my camera made a clicking noise and it worried him a bit. Other than that he is confident and eating well.
I have received some more information from his previous foster:
' A lovable chap who is affectionate and happy. Musky is much happier in the company of other dogs male or female as long as they're not hyper, the hyper dogs worry him and he becomes a little stressed which is displayed by exhuberance and because he's a big boy having him barge around the place can be a little daunting.
Musky is not cat friendly but good with small dogs, apparently his foster carer took him on holiday into a cottage where there were deer around and he took no notice of them but will follow another dogs lead.
Musky is superb on the lead and has been let off for a run in an enclosed field with good recall although there were no distractions.
Musky is good around children over the age of 10yrs only, this is because he's a little worried about a smaller child being the same height as him and isn't keen on face to face contact with small children. He has shown no signs of aggression but you can see in his face he looks a little worried so not to tempt fate really.
Musky eats well and is clean in the house, he is in superb condition and just a happy go lucky boy in the right home.'
He is quite striking in his colour - white but with very black patches, a bit like a cow

Made me laugh ... Ali told me in a message this evening that Levi was the lively one! Perhaps they are for a moment when they are deciding which spot to crash in!
