Homed Homing Requirements: Iris needs a terrier home who are happy to offer her the love and attention she so responds to. She is Jack Russell first and Shih Tzu second. Proven with young children. Care over her recall; off-lead only in safe areas and after settlement and bonding she is a terrier!
Her Story: Iris was found stray in Wales in a dreadful state, needing emergency grooming shaving off her coat. We took her in to kennels but she wasn't well so went into foster with small furries; cats and anotherdog. She won through, but her fosterer offered her skills in settling her with her many animals. Homed for 2 years as an only dog but due to change in family circumstances she has come back to us.
Advert: Iris is the sparkle in our Eyes. In her 4 years she hasn't had the stability she should. She finds herself in boarding kennels for the second time; yet a sweeter dog you couldn't wish to meet. She isn't a 'non dog' but has lots of bounce and character. Her housetraining is fine with attention especially if it is raining outside! We suspect she started out in life in a flat or being left long periods hence her toilet training was fragile if left long periods or without free access to a garden. She loves toys and play. She meets dogs well and is keen on her lead but manageable. Proven with very young children.
Iris is such a pretty Jack Russell cross. She needs regular glooming and would love to be pampered. She needs a good quality diet with a regular routine to build her skills and support her settling. She could easily be at the heart of a family but needs a family with heart, and for her to be the centre of their universe.

Referral Details: Found stray, here is her picture in a Welsh pound. Iris lovely white/tan rough coated terrier (now clipped) female. About 2 years. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Iris (short for good looking!) arrived into our care yesterday. She is a Shih Tzu type but her nose isn't a 'squashed' so hopefully she won't have breathing problems. Very nice natured . Anxious in the van from Wales as she was face to face with another dog..but took up the invitation of my passenger seat and settled beautifully once she got bored of the moving views. Iris was spayed on the 15th October.
Just the one usable pic which gives you a glimpse.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of walking Iris today. Her face has (I think, anyway!) a lot of Shih Tzu about it, and her character has a lot of loveliness about it!
I wanted her to take things easy, because it's not long since her op, but she clearly had other ideas, jumping for joy when we went in her kennel She was quick to snuggle in for a fuss though, so I managed to keep her feet on the ground after that. Another lovely RR dog....
Wriggly bottom or not - those are beautiful shots of her. Who could resist that little pink tummy with black spots on it... I doubt you lot will be walking her for long so make the most of it! _________________ "Plus je vois les hommes, plus j'admire les chiens."

We took Iris out today for the first time. She's so full of life and enthusiasm and just wanted to say hello to everyone and have a good look around. Although Iris does know sit, she wriggles around so much, her bum doesn't stay still for more than a few seconds and her tail hardly stops wagging. She loves being fussed and is a real joy to be with.
Little Iris went to the vets this morning and she has developed a fever and has swollen glands. She has had an injection and is on antibiotics to help her through. She, however, doesn't seem to relaise that she is not well and was as enthusiastic in her greetings as ever
She has been left some warm bedding for the weekend and hopefully, if she can be kept quiet, the medication will begin to work quite quickly.
Such a good little girl, both in the car and in the vets. Just wish she had a warm home to stay in
While we were there, she was microchipped as well.

Hi karen, she is a beautiful little dog. hope she gets better soon and the family who get her will have a friend for life, so sorry to hear that she is not well. cannot stop thinking about her.
I am pleased to say that the lovely Iris is snoozing by my feet as i type!!!! She is a lovely little dog and not only does her bum never stop moving, neither does her tail!!!!!!!!
She was very good in the car, she kept trying to sit on my lap for a bit but soon settled into the passenger seat (don't worry, she had a doggie seatbelt on!!) She was sick towards the end of her journey but it is a very long way
She LOVED going for a walk and just kept trying to follow Lucie. She seems more responsive to the tone of your voice, rather than her name but came back happily when called (she was on a long line so wasn't off the lead but did have a bit of freedom)
She wouldn't eat anything this evening but it has been rather a big day for her so we will just see how she is in the morning. She was very excited to see the cats (they were less impressed with her!!! ) but not in an agressive way, just curious. She sniffed my youngest cat without an ounce of agression, she hasn't met the rabbits yet!!!!
Her cough is quite bad, it's very deep and hacking and i am hoping that her medicine starts to take effect soon. I gave her some honey to soothe her throat-she wasn't impressed at that, she DOES NOT like honey!!!!!
I hope little Iris is feeling better today. Wholeheartedly agree that she is in the best place! Lots of thank yous to Tina!!! Please pass on a tickle to the little one... _________________ "Plus je vois les hommes, plus j'admire les chiens."

Iris has been mixing with Lucie, despite her cough They are both having collidal silver in their water to hopefully prevent it from passing from one to the other. Her cough still sounds bad but she is coughing less often now that i have taken her collar off I get a bit paranoid about leaving dogs without a collar and tag on, even in the house!!
Lucie changed her mind about Iris in a split second this morning! She went from grumbling at her to thinking she was her best mate and they have been playing most of the day!! They are both having a lovely time (the cats still aren't impressed though!!)
Iris saw the rabbits this morning and was again interested but not in an agressive way. I think she has the instintg to chase of they moved quickly but not in a harmful way.
She doesn't seem to understand stairs. She is getting the hang of the ones that go up but is still baffled by the ones that go down!! My Mum is patiently trying to teach her how they work
Thanks for all the praises for our home everyone, if only you all knew the truth At least it's better than kennels...slightly and should give her the chance to get better
I've been there and I know ... a lovely home and a million times better than kennels ... have you been drinking Tina?!!!
If anyone has seen Tina's Lucie they can vouch for how wonderfully trained she is and such a great dog with a wonderful personality. Tina has brought that out in her ... don't let her kid you! Iris will learn heaps during her time with Tina & Lilian believe me!
