Please meet Frank...he has the type of face that only a mother can love. And guess what? Yep! I just love this dog!!!

Look at the face...just so squishable and believe me...he really is that! Frank was not blessed with too many brain cells, bless him, so he has made up for it with just adorablity. Very Happy

Poor Frank has had a rather rubbish life so far. He quickly showed signs of tail chasing. Not to the extreme and to be honest he got dizzy after the third turn and fell over sideways, so didn't carry it on for too long! This may suggest that he has been kept in a small room somewhere for long periods of time.

Our Frank is indeed microchipped. The previous owners have been contacted, as they were for two Mastiffs two years ago that were bald with mange that were found straying. She left Frank to his own fate as she did the two Mastiffs. She said that she didn't want him back because of his skin problem. Sad
Frank was taken into a dog pound about two weeks ago. This particular dog pound has a high destruct policy and so the pound did not bother to treat his mange as they were sure that he would be put to sleep.
Frank was one of the few lucky ones and offered a space at Rescue Remedies.

Ironically, due to a loophole in the law, the owner cannot be prosecuted for allowing the dog to get into this sort of state because she has willingly handed the dog over.

As soon as he arrived he started to itch and his skin is so fragile due to the mite infestation that when he tried to scrath himself on a fence his face tore and he started to bleed. Sad Such a shame that the people who have been looking after him for two weeks could not just treat his ailment. Sad

He was immediately treated with Stronghold as it is very obvious Sarcoptic Mange. You can see from the pics that his feet are very red and sore and they are all burning hot. He is being started on a course of antibiotics for the skin infection that has been causing him alot of suffering.

The close up of his face shows months of neglect. His face should be covered with a fine covering of soft hair. It is in fact dry, scaly and bald. Very similar to leather.

Frank is of course entire and arrived unvaccinated. He is currently serving time in quarantine so that he cannot infect other dogs with his mite problem, hence we cannot dog test him at present. He did pull a bit of a funny face at Ruby earlier though so I am thinking that he will be a one person dog!

He is very well behaved on the lead and if you stand still he will sit straight down next to you and is quite happy to wait until you decode what the next course of action is.

Very adorable and I am hoping won't be hanging around too long.

Me thinks you underestimate his appeal  ... he has major cute factor and that's before the RR makeover! Lovely eyes, nice colouring ... mothering instincts are rushing to the fore Smile

PS Great name!

Frank can go out on walks straight away but cannot be walked alongside other dogs until at least next weekend (to ensure no cross-infection). He will also need his own harness otherwise mites can be transferred that way.

He may be itchy but I am sure he will enjoy a walk considering that he has been stuck in a kennel in a dog pound for two weeks solid.

Another one for the album. Most dogs meet me with some trepidation on arrival. Not Frank. He met me like a long lost friend!
