Homed Homing Requirements: Finlay is good with most other dogs outside but really needs a home as an only pet. He has keen chase instinct so will need to be retained on an extender to counteract this. Not for cats, small furries or fast movers. Terrier experienced home and confidence behind the lead.
His Story: Finlay was found stray. He is very personable and loved by all. Finlay has a beautiful taupe colouring; 1 year old and alert. Appears to be a Patterdale Terrier x bull breed, very handsome! He is now neutered; chipped and vax'd.
Advert: Finlay is a beautiful dog with a good nature, but think terrier! … enjoy, control and command! Terriers need understanding and management … training helps, but their instincts are keen and they are what they are - Terriers need to be respected and admired. Finlay is a soft terrier, conversant with dogs and great with people, but needs garden security, exit security to give him safety and care. Finlay will put his nose into things and did put his nose into another dogs kennel and suffered a ripped lip which now healed. Again ever the adventurer.
Finlay is a beautiful boy. He went stray once, but his future family won’t risk that as he is so lovely. Daily walks and he'll settle. The rest of the day to potter around and enjoy a ray of sunshine or an interesting smell in the garden. Finlay is not hyper ... he is calm by nature. Finlay needs TLC, a few ground rules and he'll be your perfect excuse to put on the wellies in rain or sit outside the pub and watch the day go by in sunshine before you track back to the comforts of home. Home sweet home ... just what we are looking for our precious Finlay.

Finlay has just come into our Rescue. He was found stray unclaimed. We will be getting him neutered in the next week. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Wow, Finlay looks a big fellow in those lovely pictures but in reality he is very little so I am posting this picture -
so you can see he is only about knee height. He really is a daintily built boy and very pretty - looks like some Lab in there and his slightly wrinkled brow reminds me of a Shar Pei. He is the most lovely Pewter colouring too - really glamerous!
I took Finlay out today for the first time. He is quite small but also a lot stronger than I'd imagined. His colouring is very attractive and his fur is very soft and shiney
He has a gentle expression and seems to be gentle with people - certainly not bouncy or over the top.
We walked with Rex and Karen and Finlay was much easier to walk when he was at the front. He does pull on the lead a fair bit.
He wasn't treat orientated at all out on the walk although he likes treats in his kennel.
He seems pretty quiet and self contained at the moment, but I'm sure he'll perk up when we get to know him a bit better.
Finlay was more relaxed with me today. Before setting off,he was very affectionate and gentle and enjoyed being fussed. He has a very endearing face and lots of wrinkles
When out walking, he was very strong on the lead and focussed on walking straight ahead. He paid no attention to birds and squirrels but was very interested in a cyclist and an off lead dog and went into meerkat mode!
When we got back, he went straight to his bed with a chew
Can I please have a personal tracker put on this boy? He is actually amazing! As soon as I met Finlay today he was so affectionate, put his paws up and wrapped them around my arms and didn't want to move. But he doesn't do it in the normal Staffie full on way he is so so gentle and quiet.
He walked with and greeted Cassie perfectly and the 3 off lead dogs we met on the walk were no problem either, at first he laid down when they approached, then it was standing up, tail wagging at 100mph, what a great little guy! He did pull a bit on the lead but doesn't really weight enough for it to be a problem, we had a run with Finlay and Cassie, then back at the kennels sneaked in another 15-20 minutes in his kennel. I have never had so many gentle cuddles and kisses from one dog and I was trying so hard to get my partner to agree to me bringing him home. I have totally fallen for Finlay and I have no doubt that he won't be here long, I just can't understand why he's here at all! But whoever is lucky enough to get him for keeps, please please keep me posted!!!
Dear Finlay got into trouble today. He pocked his nose into another dog's kennel and another dog grabbed his lip and in the struggle tore it. Not his fault but he ended up in the vets and has had to have his lip stitched and whilst he was under he was neutered. So TLC and gentle socialisation so he can continue his confidence. Unfortunely in a kennel setting energies can ride high some days. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!

Poor Finlay was not in great shape this morning. He had to have a small part of his lips removed and his face is now quite swollen. Being neutered and wearing a lampshade is making life hard for him at the moment. He did appreciate the cuddles this morning, though. Poor thing
Well I went with the intention of spending 15 minutes with my little Fin today but that soon turned in to a half hour slow walk with cassie and 20 minutes of cuddles in his kennel, this is one very special boy! He greeted and walked with cassie perfectly and seemed very very happy to be out walking. We met 7 other dogs, 3 of these were off the lead and he was perfect happy Finlay as always, no sign of fear or agression at all. He slowed down a bit towards the end and didn't pull much after about half way round, he was sniffing everything tho and scooped up some dirt in his cone which I cleaned out. He was affectionate to me, cassie and the lovely Paul and Lisa. Then seemed to really enjoy extra cuddles and a belly rub. His face was pretty swollen and looked very sore but he didn't show any pain. That's my little trooper! He will make someone so so happy, and very soon I'll bet!
