Her Story: Evette was found stray with her friend Marie. They have stayed together since and we will home them both in with another dog as unlikely to get a home for both.

Salient points: Young staffie x 1 yrs. Good condition. gentle solid nature. good with people and dogs. Unassessed within a domesticated situation.

Advert Evette is a darling. She presents as an observant, gentle and calm dog within the kennelled situation. She is happily kennelled with the friend she was found with; they maybe related. She has a playful side and a wonderful smile.  Now spayed, chipped and fully vax'd. She is seeking her home with another dog ideally to optimize her skills.

Evette is taller than your average staffie, almost a small boxer size. She walks beautifully on the lead though a little reticent about traffic. Wonderful markings and who couldn't fall for her?

Please visit this Evette's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in our care on this forum to find out more about them and follow their progress.

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Evette's thread below:

Evette was found stray with her friend Marie. They have been kennelled together in the pound successfully. Both unclaimed and coming to us this pm. Am arranging neutering asap.

Met Evette today she travelled in the front seat with me..Marie was 'too high energy' so took the crate. Lovely vib. she could be Keith's double but she is a little bigger than Keith! In fact she is the size of a Boxer bitch.

Evette was spayed and chipped today. Very dopey on the ride home and the pictures pick up her 'flatness' due to anaethetic..but made for good pictures!

Evette is a beautiful girl, such lovely eyes Very Happy  Calm but friendly - had lots of licks from her today out on the walk.  She walked with a new walker while I took Marie. She was nervous of the traffic though and was very aware of it even from a distance - she knew it was approaching.  She is a good solid girl but not as big as I expected. Took it easy on her walk because of her op but she trotted along nicely most of the time. Tail between her legs a few times but because of the traffic.

Sue & I took Evette out today with her partner in crime, Marie.
She really is a beautiful girl, very calm, almost to the point of being shy.
She walked along behind Marie on the 1st part of the walk, didn't pull on the lead, and kept checking for Sue who was walking her.
We noticed the tail being tucked underneath on the approach of traffic, but a quick fuss and a 'Good Girl' set the tail wagging again.
She has a similar stature to Ky, but that's where the similarities end, very calm and quiet.
A real darling love4

Tom and I took out Evette and Marie today. Evette was calm and lovely all the way... except when we stopped for water. When I sat down Evette thought it would be funny to run up for a cuddle and push me over, and while I was lying on the grass her accomplice Marie took full advantage, ran over and started licking me. I was pinned down and washed by 2 playful staffies! Of course Tom did nothing to help - in fact I think he put them up to it.  Laughing

Evette had her second vax today.  She then went home with Colleen, Sylvia and Cassie their dog (Hubby and children!). After their initial shock over her size she then began to prove herself and won everyone over including Christabel our Vet who remembered her as a heart throb whom she had spayed mid August. Await with interest on our first fostering report!

Evette proved herself in so many departments just wanted to inter relate with Cassie which Cassie didn't want. Colleen will share what she discovered in her 24 hours in West End!

Evette eagerly jumped into the car and settled nicely and calmly for the trip home.  We got home just in time for the school run, so Evette had a lot of fuss made over her at the school by the children.  She was wonderful and just sat calmly whilst being stroked and admired by many little people.  She walked beautifully on the lead next to KC, our Cavalier King Charles, but was a bit wary of cars going by.  She settled in well on getting home, and my children (ages 7 and 9) loved her.  She has a lovely nature and will do anything for a cuddle or tummy rub!

Evette was not that hungry for her evening meal of dog food, but made it quite clear that she would have our food instead!  However when she realised that it was not on offer to her, she settled down on the rug and slept while we finished our meal.  Very good manners indeed!

She did jump onto every bed and sofa in the house to try them all out!  From observing her it seems that she has been someone's spoiled and much loved lady in the past.  She wants to be an integral part of the goings-on in the family.  She is so calm and affectionate and plonks herself on your lap if you let her.  Evette does not seem to have had much training, and does not seem to know many basic commands.  She will give you a handshake for a treat, but that is about it.  However, even with her size she still manages to be extremely gentle and well-behaved.  She is intelligent and will get trained very quickly.

She would probably benefit from losing a little bit of weight, possibly gained from having been in kennels.

Evette did not show much interest in playing with a ball when she first arrived, however with a little encouragement she was starting to have fun with a tennis ball by the next morning.

Evette is very playful when it comes to other dogs.  Unfortunately 'KC', would not play with her.  He suffers from arthritis and was rather intimidated by her size, and scared of being hurt.  KC started growling at Evette, which was a big disappointment to us.  Sadly, I decided that Lynne should reunite Evette with her friend Marie.  So unfortunately they are now back in kennels together again.

Evette is eagerly awaiting the right family to give her a chance, and would make a simply wonderful pet.  She would definitely benefit from some trianing, which would make her even better!

Razz
