Posted: Wed Jan 06, 2010 5:26 pm Post subject: Cole Patterdalex young Fareham Hants
His Story: Cole is an Irish man who coped well in the lifestyle of mixing with dogs and being fairly free range. He however is too keen to chase cats and also had started to enjoy the thrill of chasing sheep. He needs a responsible terrier owner who retains him on an extender to keep him out of harms way.
Salient points: Cole is a 'medium' sized terrier about 17" to the whithers. His coat is glossy curls with a white chest to be proud of and his age around 2 years. His tail was docked very short. In good health. He will chase and has no road sense: Needs to be retained on an extender on open reaches and short lead around roads as would be shot by a farmer if livestock involved. Social and easy to walk on a lead. Secure garden and exit management a must.
Advert: King Cole is bright young soul with bright Irish eyes and a touch of the blarney (Irish Patter!) A beautiful Patterdale but his terrier instincts are 'exact'. In everyother way Cole is an easy terrier. He has good manners; would easily live with another dog and would like to play. He has good people skills; is affectionate and could live around children. Patterdales have their followers and Cole shines out as a particularly 'fine type'. All he needs is a responsible owner who won't place him near cats, small furries and will manage him outside for his own safety with garen boundaries terrier proof and exit management in place.
Cole travelled over from Ireland early February, having been in rescue since October. He has a lovely energy and has done remarkedly well considering the changes he has endured. He is good on the lead and Ihe can be picked up; and examined without any concerns. A truly lovely temperament. A truly lovely terrier.
Please visit Cole's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in Kennels on our Forum to find out more about him and follow his progress.

Referral letter: I am working as a volunteer for an animal welfare organisation called KLAWS Kenmare and Locality Animal Welfare Society we are based in Co Kerry Ireland
We currently have a little fella called Cole whom I am fairly sure is a Patterdale Terrier ( I am attaching photos for your perusal) He is neutered and innoculated and a lovely little fella. Basically well behaved in the house but if other dogs are there he does mark his territory a bit. He gets on well with other dogs walks well on the leads and around the vicinity of the house is good to return when called and stay around. The problem is Cole does not like cats and in typical terrier style would attack and indeed has done so. He also chased a sheep recently and looked deadly when doing so.
I really feel that Cole is too nice a dog and such a young age for anything bad to happen to him but he needs to go somewhere responsible and maybe away from an area where there is too much temptation - I guess ideally in a built up area, where he will be walked on a lead in a park etc. Where we are is very remote with many sheep and all our foster homes have cats. Luckily the lady who has him runs a kennels so she is able to keep him separate to her cats.
I wonder would you be in a position to help Cole please - he really is a little sweetie and he cannot help his breeding
I really would appreciate anything that you can do for us please.

King Cole came out for special walk yesterday with Scally and Parkin (2 other Patterdales). They behaved wonderfully together and so the special guest Cookie a rather lovely Red Fell joined the group. The purpose was for Cookie to choose her companion and Cole nearly got the badge! They got on famously and it was a close thing but Parkin got the biscuit! by being so calm and so chilled and so much the perfect gentleman. BUT Cookies owners were so sad to see me take Cole back to his kennel. His family will come soooon _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
Lynnes right - Cookie adored him! Cole is a lovely dog, full of character and a lot of fun. We were very sad to leave him behind! We hope he finds the home he deserves very soon.
Alas Cole was alittle bigger than Cole's visitor wanted and we homed another Patti with him, so King Cole is still available ..lovely boy! _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier!
King Cole had a lovely walk in the spring sunshine today. He met a delightful Whippet who tried to entice him into play initially then flight but Cole declined due to his extender lead and walked on but was chuffed by the meeting.

Cole walked with Stanley & Martin today - he would have preferred more sociable companions - as he is very keen to play but made the most of it anyway, lovely cuddles for me too.
Special special terrier Cole or King Cole as we call him is a merry merry soul..and lovely with it. ALWAYS a pleasure to spend time with him.

Yum yum, swoon, heart pounding, drool - I'm a car wreck after meeting this chap! He is to die for and if I thought it would make any difference I would re-apply my lipstick!
Joking aside he has such a calm, laid back and charming air about him. As near to the perfect terrier as you could get! The "pleased to meet you" city gent no less! The curls on his back are gorgeous and no carmen rollers are required. Sweet and happy button eyes ... and there I go again ... swoon!
Judge for yourself ...

Cole was an absolute joy to walk. he is such a happy little boy, walked so well, was great with other dogs. I wish him all the very best in finding his forever home, he will make someone very happy indeed, if only given that chance.
