Clarence has been cared for; loved and given such fun in his last year since diagnosis. Yesterday there came that moment when Clarence showed his signs that life was becoming a strain and the body becoming a pain. To avoid him suffering in anyway for the sake a a few days..Peter and Caroline gave him PEACE and are filled with happy memories of precious, jovial Clarence
Clarence is a very special dog who found his very special family.
Sadly he has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart and his health is failing..even though he is only around 4 or 5 yrs old

News from Pete and Caroline this morning..
Clarence had a good night and was more himself this morning with no coughing. The vet said that there was still some noise in his lungs so he will continue on double dose diuretics for the next week. He will have another ECG on Tuesday to ensure that he has not developed any irregularities with his heart.
So he is not out of the woods as yet but yesterday morning we wasn't sure that he would still be with us today so this is of course a bonus.
We will keep in touch - and many thanks for your call yesterday.
Keep to powerful thoughts flowing........

Clarence is a little better which ofcourse for a Jack Russell is the signal to resume all activities with gusto! He isn't being walked currently but playing with his toys and family. Appetite is good.
He is a happy special soul..anyone blessed to meet him will appreciate

Glad to hear Clarence is feeling a little better. It must be the terrier spirit, keep it up.

Sorry I haven't update you all on Clarence's health recently. pete and caroline periodically email me here are their last 2 emails
19/11/07Oh the ups and downs of Clarence! His condition was fairly settled but then on Friday he got up with a limp! We took him to the vet that evening (by which time he seemed ok) only to be told that he was indeed ok! She did check him over and said that his lungs sounded quieter so that made the visit worthwhile.
Then late Saturday night he started coughing again which seemed bad as he was poorly all night. Caroline stayed up with him and took him to the vets in the morning. We were dreading the outcome but as it turned out his lungs were clear and he had a sore throat! He's on antibiotics and we've upped his diuretics again as an infection could build up fluid on his lungs. So now he gets 13 tablets a day!
He has picked up this evening and is currently driving us mad by constantly losing his ball under the sofa!
Hope you and Lynne are both well.
Pete Caroline and Clarence
30/11/07 Clarence has been back and forth to the vets like a yo-yo recently. His reduced diuretics level didn't work and he is back to 6 a day which the vet has advised is an especially high level. He had to have a boost injection of them yesterday into the muscle on his shoulder which was rather painful but seems to have done the trick. His energy levels are noticeably dropping as a 20 minute walk can be too much (I had to carry him home the other day) so 15 minutes is max for now. He will be back to see the vet on Monday for another check up.
Still he seems to enjoy life in his ever positive way - chasing his ball around the house and hunting mice in the garden! He also still loves a good cuddle and seems to sense when we are due home from work by watching the door at around the right times. Very clever!
Pete Caroline and Clarence.
