Homing Requirements: Bruno would love a Lurcher or collie experienced family. He can display throat noises when initially pulling on his lead. Bruno requires his own secure garden. Bruno the Collie can be a little possessive of toys or comforts but easily managed through offering attractive substitute: Non confrontational management. Can be sentivie around control on grabbing collar. Bruno the Lurcher can open lever doors. Would love to live with another dog. Not for cats or live in children.
His Story: Bruno was abandoned by his owners in kennels. He moved into our care endured a long period of kennelling. He was fostered for a long period of time and had . He was returned a short term homingi as owner needed dog easier on lead and hadnt confidence to lead off lead as demonstrated with foster. Bruno needs his energy levels controlled with regular running exercise as a lurcher. Bruno is neutered, chipped and vax'd.
Advert: Bruno is a character, always with a smile to greet you. He is a little opportunist with food, as lurchers can be, but generally well mannered in the home. Bruno loves his walks, pulls only at the front of the walk and is off lead away from roads. Bruno enjoys the company of other dogs. Bruno was fostered with tweenagers and adores their company...and their cuddles. Bruno travels well in a car secured or crated.
Bruno is a lovely Lurcher x Collie with heaps of character! Bruno mixes with dogs well outside though occasionally will try to herd but is bought out of it. Fosterer's quote "A man's best friend, he is loyal, lovable, soft and cuddly, great on lead and off, has good recall, loves his food. He can bounce a ball and catch it himself, loves to sleep downstairs. He is adorable and loves my dog Ziggy" He is Mr Magic terrific dog!!

"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found"
Bruno's thread below: Watch his progress through our RescueReferrer's report: Bruno’s owners put him in boarding kennels while they went on holiday and never returned. In the kennels he was quite nervous to start but after lots of hard work from our volunteers he has learned to trust people and now loves going out for walks. He is well behaved with all our walkers but has not been around children at all.He has been walked with several different dogs and there have been no problems either on walks or in the kennels although he has not been loose with any other dogs. He is said to be around 3 years old. After a change in his environment he may need some more confidence boosting exercises but he does make friends quickly and once he trusts people they are friends for life. xxCelia _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
I was 1 of the many walkers who had the pleasure of taking Bruno out across the fields when he was in the stray kennels. He was always bouncing around at the front of the run saying 'take me, take me' when I walked past his kennel with a lead in my hand. Always very excited to go out and settled down nicely once he knew where he was going. He'll always sit in front of you for a treat wherever you are, inside or out, think he's a foodie! After his lovely walks, he would go back in his kennel and run to pick up a squeaky toy and dive in his bed. Another lovely boy whose thread I will be watching willing him to go to his forever home very soon. Good luck handsome boy.
Bruno greeted me nicely but wasn't too sure of me and didn't really fancy me popping his leg through the harness or fiddling with it under him, I wish now I'd taken a slower approach at introducing myself. However the prospect of a walk was very favourable and he was keen to get going. Not phased by the water logged fields, though a little worried about cars passing our side of the road. I gave him a couple of treats as we walked along, when we stopped to cross the road he turned sat in front of me and gave his best 'is it treat time' look, so he's definitely bribable
Bruno joined me in the paddock this afternoon..a really lovely 'easy' dog. His brindle is coming from sighthound/lurcher. His fur type and tip of the tail white and collar/ mane definitely takes you to collie.
His energy is calm and placid; curious and kind. So took to Bruno today..his owners must have fallen on hard times or separation..bet they had him from a pup..you feel he has been a loved dog. We'll enjoy his company whilst we have the pleasure of helping him As always my pictures aren't the best but attempt to capture his character

He looks SO MUCH like my Benji, only different colour! Benji is a shorthaired (smooth coat) collie and a 100% collie, so this lovely lad probably has quite a bit of collie in there.
Breaks my heart seeing him in kennels Hope he gets a lovely home very very soon!
All I can say to anyone considering a collie x that I must say I would have never thought what an absolutely amazing dog I got getting Benji! Sensitive, responsive, attentive to detail and so so loyal. And, goes without saying, super intelligent!
Bruno gave me a warm welcome into his kennel, not sure if he is used to a harness, over head no problem but he still wasn't too keen on hands under body, he is however bribable. A treat with one hand while I reached for harness fixing and we were soon harnessed and he was ready for the off.
Lovely responsive boy he found the tennis ball Kenny left behind and proudly carried it most of the way round before we lost it. I gave him a good stroke all over while we were out and that met approval so I think he'll soon look forward to the harness = walk
Bruno came out on our Group Walk and he was so excited. A really lovely dog V. clever and so responsive when you tell him no. He wants to be loved and will make someone a great family pet - such a kind dog.
How lovely to see Bruno enjoying his walks. He's put on some weight which he needed to do and he must love having some off lead runs and being out with a group. He didn't mind us handling him before he was neutered - he used to have coats put on and off without any problems but he was a bit upset after his op as he was probably very sore so I'm sure you're right and he'll soon realise that handling is nothing to worry about. He will make someone a lovely companion. Thanks for caring for him x
Bruno is easy enough to harness now but I don't blame him if the 'snip' put him off for a bit!
Had a lovely walk with Bruno, he does pull a bit but he's excited to be out, he seems to be getting used to traffic too only if he doesn't hear them coming up behind does he spook a bit now.
My first walk with Bruno today. He greeted me very nicely and made me feel very welcome.
As I went into his kennel, I put down the bag which contained a big box of sausages and sausage rolls. No sooner had I turned round and the little monkey had his head in the bag, the lid off the box and was eating the sausage rolls.
We finally got out to walk and it was lovely. He;s a great companion. He is very motivated by food (as I found out!), which will make him very easy to train when he finds a family!
Lovely walk today with such a sweet boy who's so helpful now with fitting his harness.
When we got back I unzipped my bumbag and was going to offer a treat but I'm too slow he helped himself to the clingfilm but sensible only ate the cheese inside!
Bruno hitched a ride on Wednesday to the vets for his first vax and check over. He was a little fascinated travelling in the front seat and when I first switched the windscreen wipers on did the typical collie thing of trying to catch them with his mouth. I drove trying not to use them and when I really needed them I distracted his attention On the way home he was too busy lounging around and enjoying his belly being rubbed and giving little licks. Sounded a bit chesty on the way back which I and the vet hadn't picked up. We'll keep an eye and I'll give him Milbemax on Sunday once we know he has settled after his vax. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
