This is Pietro my pigeon squab...

He turned up yesterday after being found on the grass after falling out of a third floor window of a derelict building.
We are assuming that his mum has died as he was incredibly thin and through desperation for food had climbed onto the windowsill of the building and made his great escape.
He is now safely tucked up in a suitable cage whilst hand rearing commences.

He had to have a good soak when he arrived as his feet were caked in poop and old feathers.

And is practising stretching his wings already...

When he is able to eat for himself then he will be transferred to a slow release home and then he can return to the wild where he belongs.
