Her Story: Found Stray as a very young dog, fostered for short durations now kennelled.

Salient points: Good to live with bigger dogs and older children. Young energy: Highly trainable.  Needs fair-sized garden or open fields. Sensitive skin to chemicals and certain fabrics.

Advert:Amba is a magnificent cross breed with a vibrant golden red coat. She stands elegant and runs with glee and spirit like the wind. She is just over the year and adapted well in the 3 settings we have known her in though it needs to said she did find living with 8 small dogs challenging! She was then fostered with 2 larger dogs male and female and learned manners, commands and had great fun. Amba loved being up close and comfortable with horses, and is very adaptable . She needs but has never had consistently a good exercise regime with access to a garden and to rebuild the confidence.  Amba is spayed, chipped and vax'd

Amba loves to meet people, copes with busy social events and really responds to new situations. She is tiny but her proportions are such in photos she tends to look twice her size. Can't understand why we still have Amba..she is so lovely, fabulous cross breed with 'pharoh hound' looks and a most amazing personality. She can get alittle excited when bored so with 2 long walks a day she settles into an easy delightful and oh so loving dog. Amba has a huge fan club and on meeting you're capitivated!

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Below is Amba's thread

Amba is a Hound x  who was rescued a couple of months back from a dog pound after she was picked up as a stray and never claimed by a member of the public.

The new home she was in had a young child who had to go into hospital due to chest problems (as far as we know not related to Amba or allergies). Amba was taken into foster care, but then the new owner admitted that he could not cope with Amba and did not want her back. Amba is quite high energy level and needs extra training which she never received until she got to us.

The new foster carers did love Amba but because she was strong on the lead they found it very difficult to walk her so over time the walks did tend to stop. Amba was being walked on a harness and she tends to pull like a train on this so a Halti and collar would be a far better idea for her.

The foster carer also had 8 small dogs she ended up being shut away alot in a seperate room and having the smaller dogs so close did drive her slightly nuts! When she finally managed to escape from the room she had a pop at two of the small dogs (although to be fair they DID attack her first!) and the lady felt that she could no longer keep her.
We are working with her social skills with other dogs and she is coming on nicely. She was nose to nose with a couple of Cavaliers the other day and is fine with larger dogs. She prefers males.

Amba came to the kennels about a week ago. Since then she has been spayed, first vaccinated and microchipped. She is also being trained not to jump up so much and we are trying to teach her some self control when it comes to saying hello to new people!

Amba would be better suited to a home with older (teenage) children or an adult household as she is young, exhuberant and young children will get her far too over-excited considering she needs one to one to help her mannerisms.

This is Amba...

Well..as it goes I am thinking that she is more likely to be Ibezan Hound/Pharoah Hound cross  She is definately very hound-like when she runs.

Picked Amba up on wed, she was an angel in the car slept on the back seat all the way.  We dont see any terrier in her she looks very phaorah hound x to us.
Because of the bad weather, which she is finding a little too cold so has been wearing two jackets (what a whimp), we had salt down on the yard which did not impress Amba at all, as her feet were so soft it iritated them. Her feet are rapidly toughening up and she is enjoying being out more as a result.
After one telling off she has learnt the pecking order and is too busy having a brilliant time playing with the other dogs to be bothered that she is at the bottom of the pile.
Working out wot horses are didn't take long, she soon realised they really are not that fun and their poo is much more interesting lol she decided today that the horse lorry is a perfect new hide out her very own palace, which is good, as she is comming with us to her 1st competition this wknd, where she will get to meet lots of horses, dogs and people, and see lots of new things.
She is learning the basic commands but its early days yet and there are distractions apleanty lol she much prefers to get all the toys out of the basket as quick as we can put them back in.  One of her favorite tricks is to fall off the sofa onto her back in a pile, not very clever but doesn't seem to bother her.
We love her already she is a real character!

     Any questions please ask.

Hey well as promised here is the update after having a very hectic weekend. We have all been to a competition thats myself and Ellie, (humans) Lordy and Large action (horses) and Dudley Vixen and Amba (Dogs) Great time was had by all. Amba loved being out and about in the lorry was left alone with the other dogs whilst we rode for around 2 and half hours. We then took them all for a walk in the new forest and she was a dream on the lead which was a horse lead rope!!!! travelled back really well.

She is learning how to sit lie down and stay, today we had a lie down with no treats. yipee.  She loves being out on the yard now that her pads have hardened up and running around with the other dogs.  Horse feed also tastes pretty good. Amba has also found a new passsion in life which is our log fire, she loves curling up in front of it in the evenings on the sheepskin rug.

She is a very cuddly dog likes nothing better than sitting on your lap and just crashing out.

catch up with everyone soon.
