Homed Homing Requirements: Alf needs a family life to support his needs. A terrier experienced home who have confidence in his terrier ways. Confidence to offer him, especially socialising with dogs outside, which he enjoys. Can be left for periods. Adaptable to family circumstances and composition.
His Story: Alf had only one owner for his first 4 years of life! Never been to the vet, lived in a town environment being left in the garden kennel during the working day. His owner had been made homeless and they were living in her van, surrendered into rescue. Recently vax'd, chipped and neutered.
Advert: Alf is a great Jack Russell who is accomplished in many respects. No problems when left, house trained and played with visiting grandchildren aged 6 years plus. Enjoyed being bathed and groomed. Likes playing chase with balls – toys. Fine to take food and toys away from him. Not off extender lead as poor recall and will chase rabbits. Alf lived with a cat for 6 months with no problem. He could, with initial settling, live with a dog friendly cat again. With other dogs on lead he can on the whole meet really well other he can get excited around them. Friendly and excited meeting people. Fine to travel; lived in van for a while. His owner left his food down all day and walked him once a day.
Alf is 4 years old and settled in his own skin. A great companion, who relishes company but tolerates his own well. He needs an active lifestyle to deploy his energy. Alf hasn't lived with children but neither has he had any issues with them either, fine with visiting grandchildren. Versatile!

First with his ball skills; then his connectiveness when out on his walk; then meeting 2 bitch dogs and finally Craig the cat! Alf was popped in the car and off the family went to enjoy the New Year..what a wonderful new year for them all.
Alf has come back on to our books. He got excitable outside with a Spaniel that came over off lead, no harm done. And also to the surprize of everyone when off lead in a secure area a horse appeared and Alf was 'amazed!' obviously a new experience for him. His owners felt out of their depth to try and get him back on the lead. They have decided to foster him until we can find a terrier home for him, who are more confident with a young Parsons. _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
Alf came into kennels today through no fault of his own. He had a wonderful walk in the afternoon sunshine with me, met a Westie and then 2 Schnausers off lead..so happy to leave his kennel. Hopefully his Terrier home will come soon, appreciating what an easy chappie he is and giving him the confidence he needs with the changes and sense of loss he must be feeling over the last 2 months. This chap shouldn't be in kennels he is great great great! Such a delight to meet him again today in very sad circumstance.
Back on the road searching for his forever family

This is my first post so here goes....walked Alf on Friday and what a super lad! He was very easy to walk and had a good recall especially when he realised there was a treat to be had. He walked with Lottie and was a bit anxious at first and kept looking where she was but soon settled down. As we walked we came across a squirrel and I felt the lead tense and then the chase but quite half hearted. A very sweet dog who I am sure won't be in kennels too long.
Sarah came to meet Alf today. Sadly she lost her 18 year old Parsons in October. She has quite a complex life so Alf has gone home with her to see if they can work it out _________________ You can't train the terrier out of a terrier..they are their own persons!
