Homed
Homing Requirements: Sidney needs a Staffie home where he is an only pet and loved to bits for being a brilliant Staffie! Sidney enjoys his walks tolerant of dogs and will walk nicely in their company as long as they're not in his face then he snaps the air to tell them that done continues on his way; a typical Staffie. Sidney has a long term broken tail which doesn't need treatment but a care reference him catching it.
His Story: Sidney was abandoned and left to find his own way. Well he found his way into our hearts and is now neutered, chipped and fully vax'd. In boarding kennels near Godstone, Surrey and waiting patiently!
Advert: Sidney (James) is full of character and promise! Sidney is a lovely friendly and "lets get going" kinda chap. He is fun to be with and welcomes cuddles and attention - thriving on companionship. Kennels doesn't suit him; he is a people person! Concerned around dogs but is actually walking beside other dogs on leads well, but with his eyes only for his walking companion.
Sidney is a brindle Staffie; a proper Staffie. He is about 3-4 years young and has grown into his skin as we say. He has a broken tail which has healed and occasionally troubles him through being in kennels. Sidney has a ready smile and soooo needs his family! If you looking for a Staffie to talk and walk with; Sidney is your man!

So glad that Sidney is now one of 'ours'! The first time I saw him it was snowing and he was shivering and miserable so Kate and I snuck in with him and put one of the RR coats on him - naughty I know but we just couldn't bear to see him so unhappy. He was a really sweet boy and let us pull him this way and that in order to get him all tucked in, snug as a bug in a rug. |

yummy yummy yummy!!! If Sidney were a girl we would have had to call him 'Joy' he was so pleased to be out and about on his walk today. Lots of sniffing, snuffling and smiling! difficult to photograph as every time I bent down with the camera he zoomed in for a cuddle
As we are only just beginning to learn about Sidney we walked with Benny but maintained a comfortable distance between them. Sidney didn't seem interested in Benny at all, no pulling toward him .... just a general disinterest however when we split up to give Benny an opportunity to explore on his extender Sidney kept looking back and wanting to follow.
Water baby ..
It was a beautiful sunny day so cyclists, riders and joggers abounded ..... was our Sidney interested .... not one jot!
and I think he would definately prefer his beef with a yorkshire pudding!!!
The kennel staff already love him and he was so pleased to meet a friend on his return from his walk ...
we are all so looking forward to discovering this boys little ways and preferences, and as always , slow and steady wins the race.
getting aquainted ...
and if you scratch my neck just so ..... I close my eyes
Sidney came to us with an injured tail (which doesn't appear to bother him at all ...... but if a lovely foster home came up with space and time for tail healing I am sure he wouldn't say no!
gentle taking treats (and he does love treats!!) , stunning brindle colouring and a mighty kissable head! _________________ "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." ~ Aesop |

Sidney is a little love! He and I spent some quality walking time getting to know each other yesterday. Time well spent for both of us, I think. I think his name should have been Snuffles -Sidney had his nose to the ground, snorting and snuffling for a large percentage of our walk. He really does love to use his Staffie sniffer!
He found a perfect-smelling wadge of pine cuttings for a good roll:
He loved it when we stopped to sit on a stump to have a cuddle and a chat. He's a little cuddle monster.
Sidney was a bit pully on the lead when we first set off; he is a muscley little fella. He soon settled into his walk and his sniffing, however, and the pulling settled down.
Sidney has a powerful chase drive. He was very aware of the plethora of squirrels out and running across our paths on this warm Spring day. The Terrier in him was very eager for a chance... At times it felt like he had a 20-mule-train inside him charging toward its goal. Those little furries triggered the instincts in his Terrier brainium and he couldn't help himself - he wanted to run, bless him.
This little guy is a traditional little chunky Staffie with a lovely little block head:
I was on my own with Sidney, so it was a bit tough to take non-blurry face-on photos.
We walked past a small long-haired terrier cross and his people during our wanders; it was clear Sidney was very interested in meeting the other dog (which I didn't allow this time), but that there wasn't any malice intended toward the other dog that we met coming in the opposite direction. Good boy, Sidney!
Sidney knows 'Sit' and took treats from me very gently. With some guidance and love this little boy will be a terrific companion. He really enjoyed my company and he loves to explore the countryside.
Lovely little chap who would be so grateful for the companionship and love of his own family. _________________ "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?'" - Jeremy Bentham |

It was the first time I walked Sidney today. He is super lad. Very easy to walk and very affectionate. He found the same branches to roll round on as yesterday which made me giggle. As Wander Woman says, he is a proper snuffly, snorty staffy.

I walked Sidney for some of the group walk yesterday. He's gorgeous! Chunky, cuddly, smiley and just happy to be out and about. I'm sure he would have loved a good run, but I wasn't up to the task
He really wasn't bothered about anything much including really loud gunshots at the firing range (all of the dogs ignored them, more so than the walkers!)
I don't think he was over keen on all the rain and puddles though!

What a lovely chunky boy Sidney is. He was a bit pully but he did heel when told to. He wouldn't need much training to get the hang of it. He is a gentle boy too and took treats when out on our walk really gently and knew to sit and wait for them also. He also knew to hold up his paw, back at the kennels, when he sniffed out the roast chicken. WHAT A GOOD BOY.
He was also happy to have a good towel dry after his walk without any fuss or bother.
I would have been happy for a towel dry too. The weather was really mean to us all. (I'm the sopping wet thing at the other end of Sidney!!!!)
I'm sorry but I didn't get any pictures this time

Sidney is adding to his fan club !! new walker Nikki was the latest to fall for his charms .... Sidney appreciated Nikki running with him ..
Sidney and Tony (Sidney to busy to pose!)
Sidney so enjoys his walks. On his return to kennels he had a free run in the paddock with lots of fuss and playing with nikki & claudia.
his tail appears to have healed now, he has been left with a little kink in it which is very endearing.
Proper staffy lad, big heart and adores people. _________________ "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." ~ Aesop |

I had a lovely walk with Sidney today although I think this energetic dog is in big need of run out! I think next time we shall have a jog round the woods, hopefully that might wear him out a bit!
I popped over to the boot fair that was down the road and found a fantastic stall, bones, balls, collars and harnesses all £1-£2 each,BARGAIN!
I bought a few big tennis balls and bones and popped back to the kennels,
I played ball outside the kennels and my god this dog can really jump!
he would be fantastic in agility classes!
Looking forward to next weekend! |

Sidney burst out of his kennel door when a certain careless walker mistakenly thought she had latched it correctly when she went in to put his harness on. A moment of panic quickly subsided when it was plain that all he wanted to do was race around the paddock in manic and joyful play!
Sidney is always so grateful to be out and about and loves human companionship and attention.
He is a very bright little boy who is having trouble shining his light completely in kennels. Someone spent time with him before he entered into RR/SR care, because he does do a beautiful Sit, and also knows Paw and Lie Down! He loves cuddles, treats and toys, and so is easily motivated for training.
I am absolutely certain Sidney will respond wonderfully to exercise, stimulation and home-based structure/routine. Once he has these things, and settles in, he will make a fabulous Staffie companion. This little fellow is Staffie all over. He would love to have regular walks and playtime so he can lounge about in the evenings, tired from his daily explorations.
I really do hope his forever family comes forward for him soon. It is heartbreaking to see this people-loving dog in kennels. _________________ "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?'" - Jeremy Bentham |

It was my pleasure to walk Sidney today. Last time I walked him, he was quite pully on the lead but this time he was a very steady, easy walk. He just likes to get on with it and doesn't take much notice of the other dogs and walkers.
Cyclists, runners and the army noises don't bother him in the slightest.
He's a nice solid boy and is great to cuddle.
We had a bit of a run at the end of the walk and I'm sure he could have managed a lot more!
Here is this handsome boy:

I had a lovely ( if a bit wet!!) walk with our Sidney today , he really is such a lovely dog. He is just beside himself with happiness when it is his turn to go out but is so easy to harness and walk. He walks at a nice pace with no pulling and is pleased to stop for a treat and a fuss. he absolutely loved being dried when we got back and I think he would have stayed wrapped up in the towels for the rest of the day!!
Sidney needs his chance to demonstrate what he is like in a home environment. He needs someone to champion his cause and let us have some photos of him snuggled up in a home setting, Sidney would be thrilled to have even a weekend foster break!! I have a feeling we are only seeing a fraction of what this boy has to offer. _________________ "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." ~ Aesop |
